Street Fighter (SFIV, SSFIV, HDR)

Arcade Edition seems great from all the reports so far.

Turtling characters got massive damage (or other big) nerfs (rog, guile, honda, blanka) and fireball characters generally suck now. Should make the game far more interesting to play, bring on the AE patch!

Yup, i can't wait for it.
Didn't really care about AE previously, but after what i've read and watched of Yun, he seems like the char for me! He's like a frankenstein of the good parts of several chars that i like playing as.

Yeah projectile characters have been nerfed whereas the non-projectile ones were buffed according to some sources. Arcade Edition does seem to make that transition/relation from SFIV to SFIII a little bit closer. Projectiles were near enough useless in SFIII. Yun and Yang were top tier characters there so no surprise they would be good in AE. I always liked using Yang due to his own variation of Rekkas.

That can be said about most 3S characters. They're a peculiar mix of the older characters with some interesting new concepts thrown in.

I'm hoping for rolento as a time release character.

Meh, seems like thet SF4 series is turning more into SF3. Vanilla had more of a SF2 feel to it and it has changed with each release. I'm not sure how I feel about AE but I'm sure I'll adapt.

Less turtling is always a good thing.

SFII had zoning without turtling due to the smaller stages and lack of bonus damage for failing at the game (Ultras). That alone made SFIV feel very different to SFII, plus the incredibly easy, long combo's, very unsafe specials, mash throw teching and FA's made it a very different beast altogether.

I feel that SF4 felt more like SF2 than SF3 though. Reducing turtling is a good thing, however I just dont want it to turn into a mad rush down only style of game.

I think SF games should revolve around the use of the projectile (and non projectile characters ways of getting around this) and it just seems that its getting easier and easier to negate the fireball now.

True, but fireballs clearly dominated SFIV and are still very potent in Super.

The lack of dominating fireballs in a game doesn't make it a rushdown orientated game (it was parrying, particularly the aerial variety, that did that in 3S). Proper zoning with footsies and other ranged specials (Rog's dash punch, Adon's jaguar tooth, Abel's wheel kick, Fei Long's Rekka's etc) are much more interesting to deal with than FB's and that seems to be what Capcom are aiming for; A more balance and interesting game.

All ive taken from this is that im gonna need to get better with cammy with the stick quick!!

The new update sounds pretty damn good.

GGs omh, I did better then I expected against your Sim this time. I lost some very stupid rounds though, one in particular comes to mind because I taunted you right before getting whooped. :p

Your Gouken has potential... :)

Rog seems to have received some game changing nerfs, and his force stand mp is no more useful than force stand hk it seems.

Being unable to hb through fireballs (easily punished during recovery) and his jhp nerfs are killer, and combines with slp whiffing on crouching opponents, hb and juggle ultra hefty damage nerfs, and no corpse hopping hb's. No one can complain he's overpowered anymore :-)
