Street Fighter (SFIV, SSFIV, HDR)

Get a stick and keep practicing, add me on PC and Xbox: elrasho

Cheers, just bought a stick :)

Purdy, stick with a pad if you're using a grappler, get a stick for everyone else.

It's all about grinding i'm afraid, learning the matchups, what is safe and what is not, knowing how to punish and mind games.

The game has been out for a few years now, so most people are at a decent enough level to destroy newcomers, so you'll need to watch videos, see what the best are doing, and try to replicate it.

Also, figure out what type of character you like playing, and stick to it.

Also learn how to anti-air consistently and tech throws.

I don't think I'm using a grapper :D(really not sure), complete noob to this stuff.

Currently between Ibuki/Cammy/ChunLi, can't decide which, although leaning towards Ibuki, even though I end up panicing most of the time online I can mash out a few combos from the challenges and actually managed to get to challenge 17 which I was pleased with :p.

I can't decide whether to get P4A or UMvC3 as well since I've got a stick for the xbox makes injustice a bit redundant on PS3 :p

cammy or ibuki. they are better characters than chun li. cammy is easier to learn

easy choice. get umvc3, but dont get it on ps3

getting good in fighting games is all about practicing. doesnt matter if it is grind matches or training mode. some work better than others in different games.

playing online is a very different game from offline in person, i take winning and losing online as a pinch of salt really, unless someone actually did something very impressive, that is very hard to do even offline.

about combos in sf4, as long as you can do multiple jab or lk into a special move, you are good to go. no need to do hard combos for most characters. the trick is for the most parts, do the buttons and inputs slowly. timing is different for every characters, but as far as command goes, sf4 has a huge window and shortcut for special move inputs and also negative edge them (negative edge means by letting go a button, it also count as a extra button input. this helps executing complicated special move commands quick). you have a lot more time than you think to do your moves.

Cheers, I've ordered umvc3, found it for a tenner new on ebay :D, might have to grab P4A as well now :p

I might go Ibuki just due to the fact she looks cooler :p

I should have some free time now until September, might dig my 360 out, I wanna play some of you guys again. Where can I pick up a cheap fightstick?? I can't play on a 360 pad at all so I won't even try.

I'd picked up a hori fighters command 3 pro for the ps3 a few months back and only tested it last night. It's amazing! Only for a tenner too, we'll worth looking at if you play a lot of fighting games like me and become used to using a control pad rather than a joystick, thou I do have serval fighters sticks too.

Be warn a lot of the reviews show the jap or us version of the pad which is an official licensed product. The Europe version isn't, thou it is the same pad, it doesn't come with all the Sony logos and brand colouring; as comforted by hori's uk site.

Yeah they're quite good. I ended up going back to the dual shock though because I can do anything I need to with that D-pad consistently. One day I'll have another crack at using the TE :)

they sell it for 40 on amazon now. they used to do it for 30 at gamestation before they went bust. i am sure you can find a better deal if you look hard enough.

£40 is far more than an EX2 is worth. The buttons wear out very quickly on them.

Also, would you be able to cope with a square gate adz?

I was using a square gate on my stick for the last 6 months I had it, while I was actually playing the game that is. I just found it easier to learn playing with a stick with the octo gate but the transition to a square gate was easy in the end.

I'm gonna keep a look out for an SE for ~£30 if possible.

Hey guys, i have a question.

I see two versions of this game listed on Steam (SFIV, SFIV Arcade Edition). Which one would be best to go with.

Also wondering if you'd recommend getting it on the 3DS, be good to play some when i'm away from home :)

Is that not super street fighter 4 arcade edition? I don't really know as I have them on the PS3 and not stream. but super street fighter 4 is the newest version.

I also heard that the 3DS version is VERY different in game play.

You want Arcade Edition. This includes the full roster. It will then update to Ver 2012 which is what you see people playing at tournaments.
