Street Fighter (SFIV, SSFIV, HDR)

I've just picked up SFIV on the ps3, any tips for a beginner? I'm using a pad, realistically how limiting is this?

1. Pick a character
2. Training mode/Challenges
3. Watch youtube tutorials of your character to learn matchups
4. Play against humans online or local
5. Don't rage when you lose - keep calm and learn from your mistakes

Have you played any of the SF games before?

I've been doing this as ryu but I'm stuck on one of the combos and it was really hard not to rage.

I had sf2 on the snes but I don't remember being any good at it :(
 
I'm usually a Tekken guy but I wouldn't mind getting into SF, seems very popular on here. Which would be the best game to start with? SSFIV, SFIV, SF X Tekken? :)

EDIT: Just saw that someone asked a similar question above, I'm guessing that the answer is SFIV Arcade Edition?

Loving to play cross tekken, ss4 ae and mahvel lately :D I played xtekken and MVC3 for about 5 or 6 hours today alone and my thumbs are aching, so much fun though :D

I'm also looking to get a fightstick, and I saw the madcatz SFxT arcade fightstick pro xbox 360 version for £55 brand new, do you guys think that's a good deal? :)

I also went on MVC3 online last night, needless to say, I got absolutely destroyed :p

Is SFIV worth getting still? I used to play the first SF on the SNES but it's changed a lot since then. Are the special moves still the same as then or have they added more and changed them?

I always liked SF over others games like tekken / vitua fighter etc as it was pretty simple and didn't have a ridiculous amount of special moves or stupid combo ultra power moves.
 
The characters are essentially the same, so the motions are unchanged for the majority of the characters found in SF2.

They've introduce new mechanics like the focus attack, focus attack dash cancel, dashes, supers, ultras and ex moves.

But they are generally easy to do, and there's a trial mode that will help you understand the new moves.

It still played a lot online, and worth getting.
