Street Fighter (SFIV, SSFIV, HDR)

Ive been struggling to find a game been trying for a while , first time that I'm properly going to get into a street fighter game , the training mode is good to practice moves , although they seem hard to pull off every time with the thumbstick movements , are these easier with the proper fight joysticks ? Enjoying necali atm just learning all his moves etc, although I'll probably get my arse kicked when I do finally get online

Motions such as 360s and quarter circles are harder on the stick while charge moves are easier.

Sticks are used because they are tough (important for arcades) and the same on all platforms, plus the buttons are a lot easier to do advanced things on (not necessary in sfv as piano and plinking do nothing).

Ah right I see ... Might stick with the pad for now then, fight sticks are ridiculously expensive anyway by the looks of it ! Have seen the alpha which is the cheapest but still £70 :( ... Charge moves ?
Also forgive me for being a noob but what is piano and plinking ?

Those fight pads look interesting wonder if they would be easier due to the r1 r2 being on the front

Sorry if it has been mentioned but I have a Tournament Edition from 2011 Street Fighter 4 but it doesn't seem to work at all in SFV... any way to fix it?

Hmm, must disappointing that I couldn't get a game tonight. Hopefully things will improve soon. At least my trusty old TE stick works.

Most of FANG's and Bison's moves require charge motions.

Piano and plinking are not needed as "mash" moves no longer exist in SFV and all the link are incredibly easy with 3 frames being the hardest. Plinking helped with 1 frame links.

Well a little apology goes to Kreeeee, i caved in and used Xpadder to see and it worked so well that it feels like the game natively supported the stick, no lag at all either. Sorry i got so upset, you were just trying to help. Anyway i played for the last 2 hours and couldn't find a game, so i went to Story and Survival mode to get used to the game and characters. Which is something i was going to do anyway.

I like it personally.

I know you are known for short answers! But could you expand on 3 frames being the hardest ?

I understand frame etc but surely 3 frame window would be easier ? And 1 frame to get the linked move off would be harder?

EDIT I've found a useful link which others might find useful http://wiki.shoryuken.com/Super_Street_Fighter_IV/Advanced_Techniques/Plinking

For old time users (SFII SFII Hyper fighting) all this sort of stuff was being done in the arcades the only difference being there was no fancy names for such exploits!

Also it found an online game in about 10 seconds or so!

There are no 1 frame links in SFV, Capcom made sure of it to allow newer players to hit all combos with little practice. Which is why the whole thing feels a little 'dial a combo' like.

This would not have been done with street fighter 2 because plinking would not give you the double inputs like it does in sfiv. Sfv is much more like sf2 in that area.

Yes 1 frame Windows are far harder than 3 frames, but plinking (unique to sfiv) made the 1 frame links into much easier 2 frame links.

Plinking is impossible in sfv due to a new input buffer system, which makes even the hardest links a very easy 3 frames.

The hardest thing in sfv is just-frame charchatting with chun li, where you need to start charging on the first possible frame using the buffer and delay cancel into sbk in the clp mp cmk mk.sbk combo.

I'm on my phone, hence the short answers.

Meh I'm glad just frames are gone. Better to focus on other aspects over muscle memory.

Disagree, would be better to have tight combos as well as other aspects. No need to dumb the game down for the people that cant pull off the harder combos as there are always easier combos they can do. Hard links gave you something to work towards and felt rewarding in sf4.
