Street Fighter (SFIV, SSFIV, HDR)

Ive been struggling to find a game been trying for a while , first time that I'm properly going to get into a street fighter game , the training mode is good to practice moves , although they seem hard to pull off every time with the thumbstick movements , are these easier with the proper fight joysticks ? Enjoying necali atm just learning all his moves etc, although I'll probably get my arse kicked when I do finally get online

No, why I don't play fighters like this the controls are too hard to master especially stuff like cancels etc you'll never be good at it unless you master hitting stuff like that consistently which is nigh on impossible on gamepad.

Ah right I see ... Might stick with the pad for now then, fight sticks are ridiculously expensive anyway by the looks of it ! Have seen the alpha which is the cheapest but still £70 :( ... Charge moves ?
Also forgive me for being a noob but what is piano and plinking ?

Those fight pads look interesting wonder if they would be easier due to the r1 r2 being on the front

fightpads have garbage build quality steer clear

example i had one and the rb went after a day I opened it up and it's literally a bit of sponge superglued to a non robust cheapest of the cheap plastic microswitch laughable build quality

Apparently the DPads on the Madcatz Pro pads are garbage, they need to be taken apart, parts filed down and then reassembled to make them half usable.

Thanks for the info , think I'll give the fight pad a miss then ! Do you have a fight stick or you just not bother with fighters in general ? Can imagine them being a lot more durable then the ds4 but there just too damn expensive :(

Good to see a revival of this thread and some familiar names back :) Kreeeee thanks for the beta, I managed to play it for about 10 mins a few weeks ago. I'll get this at some point just for the ocuk tourneys if anything. Where's Art? Secretly practising I'll bet..

Disagree, would be better to have tight combos as well as other aspects. No need to dumb the game down for the people that cant pull off the harder combos as there are always easier combos they can do. Hard links gave you something to work towards and felt rewarding in sf4.

The charge characters have just-frame combos if you want to play like a man :p

Kreeeee thanks for the beta

You're welcome!

If I wanted to play on a pad I'd get an XBox One controller for SFV. The D-pad is ace and not having 6 face buttons is no longer an issue as you don't need triple punch/kick any more and that frees up the 7th and 8th buttons for dedicated vtrigger and v skill buttons.

On the ps4 l1 and l2 do the triple punch and kick combos , arse these not needed ? I thought if you pressed all 3 when doing a v skill move it does more damage ?

You can plink lp & 3K for tech/alpha counter OS :D

Is the TE-S+ for PS4 a good stick to buy?

I also want to know what the differences are between TE-2+ AND TE-S+ apart from being able to open up the TE-2+ with ease to swap out parts etc.

Do they both use the same quality Sanwa parts?

Both use Sanwa JLFs, buttons and the same PCB internally.
The Shell is the only difference really.
TE2 you can swap artwork easier and has a detachable USB cable, its quite a bit heavier than the TES as well.

Going to give survival another go tonight, doing Chun-Li i crushed easy in no time, but in normal i got to stage 27 and then zangief suddenly turned up the heat and thrashed me, seemed a bit of a difficultly spike that caught me by surprise

Use these combos, depending on what meter you have:

No meter: df.hk, c.hp, lk.legs, c.lp, lk.sbk

Super: df.hk, c.hp, lk.legs, c.lp, lk.legs, super

V-Trigger: df.hk, c.hp, VT, c.hp, lk.legs, c.lp, c.mk, mk.sbk

V-Trigger (active): df.hk, c.hp, lk.legs, c.lp, c.mk, mk.sbk

V-Trigger & Super: df.hk, c.hp, VT, c.hp, lk.legs, c.lp, c.mk, hk.legs, super

V-Trigger (active) & Super: df.hk, c.hp, lk.legs, c.lp, c.mk, hk.legs, super

I've avoided the more damaging hard combos in there that require just-frame timing to do.

The AI is bugged and cannot ever beat df.hk so it's a free win. Every character has tricks like these.
