Street Fighter (SFIV, SSFIV, HDR)

I'd say if you are a newbie to fighting games, the barebones nature of the release means it's tough to enjoy.

But if you are a fighting game enthusiast, then barring the server issues that seem intermittent at the moment, you can enjoy this game playing online.

i will do a detailed review later. but my general thought is this is much better than sf4 but not as good marvel 3. if thats all the people comparing to. and if you think easier combo really make you lose more game, than you should take a look at how you got hit in the first place.

Played a few game and man it's a yawnfest. It's just block block block... attacke and hope it hits..... bait... block block block....

edit: thn you get that one game where the other guys animations dont show so one second he's moving backwards then all of a sudden he's jumping in

I've enjoyed a few online games, though I'm not a good player by any stretch. Playing with FANG as all I ever do is choose Ryu and go from there.

However, the wait between matches is excruciating at times. That makes it hard to get into.

It has the potential to be a really good iteration of the game. The characters, to me, all feel very playable. I couldn't bare to play as some of the SFIV cast, especially charge characters. It's just all so empty and disconnected, often literally, that I can see why it's had so much flak.

People were saying exactly the same in '09 re 3rd Strike. I'm finding it quite good for a vanilla iteration.

Im sure you said something along these lines about SFIV when it came out lol.
Ever the voice of Optimism K :)

(In fairness Ive not tried this yet so cant comment!)

Did I hear right that this will not work with certain arcade sticks?

Game mechanics is not the point being discussed.

Online play not working (now partially fixed), still not able to play against friends, many PC issues (less stick support than SFIV, crashing, unable to boot, poor performance on top hardware), lack of content (story mode, challenge modes, trials), no lobby system (1v1 only) etc.

It's pathetic to launch a bare bones game like this these days, and the damage has already been done. Halo 5 is a great game at its core, but lack of launch content has destroyed its user base, and this is exactly the same in that respect.

Worst still for some of this, that you have to go and search and dig to find out this is the case.

Would it really be so difficult to layout the obvious ones - playing against friends, why the shop etc is 'off' and lobbies as a global announcement? My brother and I spent an age before we had the nous between us to check why we couldn't fight. We had it down to being cross-platform issues, then lounge issues... All could've been avoided with an announcement, surely?

What I do find a massive pain is that the modes need online to verify fight money. Why can't it just store progress until next login? I daren't play survival aside from Easy mode because I can't imagine the pad throwing frustration of a disconnect on Fight 49.

/edit: makes me feel like the Beta was purely to hype the game. Stuff that should've been fixed like the boob physics, clipping, just wasn't. So why have a beta?! It hasn't prepared servers or the like.

Surely you can't complain, Rashid's eagle spike is unblockable when the lag sets in!

Rashid has amazing aggression. He's definitely one character where the opponent blocking too much isn't a problem.

Safe pressure for free chip, a great overhead that can combo on counter hit, dirty mixups and great zoning.

Stream Greenlight ;).

But on a serious note been keeping an eye on the forum as I was hyped for a fighting game, not played anything seriously since Tekken 6 on PS3 which is forever ago now. Hoping things improve though.

Well I have to say I'm useless at this I just can't get used to it.

I had two fights online this morning and although against unranked players they were lvl 190+ and pulled off specials/combos from the very start, don't think I even hit one guy.

Without any single player I'm finding this very hard if not impossible to learn.

I think it's a really good fighting game , but it is lacking in content , which I don't mind though I just bought it to fight online even though I'm getting panned every time haha .... Every game that launches now is un-finished , the ability to patch has made developers lazy , or greedy because they just want to get the game out , I know this game has been rushed to allow for a pro tour though so I guess for this one instance it's different

It just means they have rinsed story mode. levelling up via online is slow whilst story mode gives you a huge boost. complete them all and you will be lvl 180+
Which character are giving a go?

I have been playing Cammy, I thought her moves looked fun.

I've just read that it may be a good idea to start with Ryu as he's a 'basic' character. I suppose I could give that a go.

I've been in training mode and struggling with some of the moves, for instance the Z movement, cant workthat out. I can do the fireball move (quarter circle down) no problem but have yet to work out how to trigger the special which is, quarter circle, quarter circle and Kick (or punch). Maybe I'm not doing it quick enough or something but it's annoying!
