Street Fighter V

So much for the rest of the game being free, 6 new characters costs you 24.99 for the season pass, gaming is such a scam now. Release half a game, then get charged again for the rest of it.

Buying full price, who the F is spending 70quid on street fighter for the whole set of characters you should a have in the first place and charging you for costumes, spending real money for a colour, mental, how did this all happen!

I have an ancient copy of cvg that discussed this possibility in the future and now its real

joke

If you play the game you get loads of in-game currency to unlock the content for free.

SFII was £70 on the SNES, which is £142 in today's currency. No one bought the Steam version for more than £22 so we're getting a great deal.

yea but you actually got a nice cartridge that was worth loads even when you banged it up, lost the box and dropped the booklet down the toilet. I bought sf2 on snes cart only for 60quid! I even bought the silver tin turbo version which instantly rusted and all you got was a badge.

my point is, if you didnt know you can unlock you could be stitched up buying the season pass thinking thats how you get the extra 6 characters, I know no one pays full price my point is the season pass is decieving. Im not following the street fighter scene and a casual revisting it from playing in sf2 era and I didnt know about unlocking characters etc for free, Ive just seen them selling them in a season pass and was like wtf is this con, Its there to catch out folk in my position.

Prob an over reaction but I still say season passes are there to con you

Ok fair do's

If you didn't know better you would be forgiven for thinking that. Why are they trying to sting the uneducated into 25quid for the extra characters? when you can just unlock them, what numpty would willing spend 25 quid on them when they can just play the game, that season pass shouldn't exist, it serves only one purpose and that is catching people out.

There is no news on how much the characters outside of Alex will cost, they may be substantially more in game currency. So the issue of time/grind comes into it.

Also costumes arent via ingame currency.

I bought it with the season pass just because I couldn't be bothered buying SFV Arcade Edition, then Super SFV, then Ultra SFV - which is what I assumed would be happening based on past experience. Seems I should have saved my money - wish they stated as such :/

New update coming sometime in March. Very much required for a player such as myself. I am a complete casual gamer when it comes to fighting games, played some SF2 and a little of 4.

This update will add the much needed training/challenges that should teach complete noobs such as myself what the v-triggers etc do.

March Update

New fighter Alex

Alex has been one of the most fan requested characters for Street Fighter V and we’ve put in a lot of work to make him appeal to old school and new players alike. Having made his first appearance in Street Fighter III back in 1997, Alex is a brash grappler whose bold attitude tends to get him in trouble. His parents died while he was still young, so he was raised by his father’s friend, Tom, who taught him everything he knows about fighting.

Challenge Mode
  • Demonstrations: Learn the ins and outs of Street Fighter Vthrough helpful demonstration and tutorial content. Contains content for each of the 16 characters, as well as advice geared towards players of all skill levels:
  • Beginner Tutorials: 12 lessons covering, movement, normal attacks, special attacks, V-System, throws, counter hits, chip/recoverable damage, etc.
  • Intermediate Tutorials: 11 lessons covering projectiles, invincibility frames, armor and armor break, recovery, cross-up attacks, anti-air options, etc.
  • Advanced Tutorials: 4 lessons covering back dashing, frame advantage/disadvantage, combo potential, button priority, etc.
  • Character Tutorials: 16 lessons covering each individual character.
  • Trials: Put your skills to the ultimate test with combo trials for all 16 characters, ranging from basic to pro combos. Completing Trials will also earn you some extra Fight Money.

In-Game Shop
  • Fight Money Expenditure: Spend your hard earned Fight Money to purchase extra game content, such as DLC characters and the Story Mode Costumes.
  • Online Rematch Option
  • Salty from a close loss online? Want revenge? Players can now play a 2/3 set in Ranked Match, provided both players accept the rematch.
Battle Lounge Improvements
Enjoy up to 8 person lobbies, complete with match spectating.
In addition to all of this new content, the following bugs will be fixed in the update:

  • Bug: Sometimes you don’t get EXP from casual matches
  • Bug: On a rare occurrence, if you restart the game after you unlock colors, the colors you unlocked will disappear

There are a few gameplay related bug fixes and balance changes as well:

  • Vega:
If you hit V-Trigger Bloody Kiss (anti-air) in certain situations, Vega will no longer continue to rise off the top of the screen.
  • M. Bison:
If M. Bison is interrupted by an opponent’s V-Trigger or Critical Art during his invisible frames of Double Knee Press in V-Trigger mode, M. Bison will no longer remain invisible until his next move.
  • Rashid:
Rashid will no longer float in the air for a moment if you perform his V-Trigger after he touches the ground upon a missed Eagle Spike.
  • Chun-Li:
During V-Trigger activation, the hit stop and block stop has been made the same for multi-hitting moves (medium or heavy attacks for both normal and special moves).
She was previously able to perform option selects involving standing HP into Houyokusen, so this has been removed.
  • Vertical and Back Jump Frames:
All characters except Birdie and Zangief: Vertical jump and back jump frames have changed from 3f->4f.
  • Birdie: Vertical jump and back jump frames have changed from 4f->5f.
  • Zangief: No changes to jump frames.
These changes reduce the effectiveness of throw tech option selects involving jumping (also known as “jump grab”). Changing forward jump frames would affect the game balance too much so those remain unchanged.
  • Throw Escape Change:
  • If you push buttons during the normal throw delayed tech window you are unable to escape throws for 2 frames.
  • Prevents using light attacks to option select with throw escapes.
  • If you execute specific special moves during the normal throw delayed tech window you are unable to immediately escape throws. Each characters V-skills, V-triggers, V-reversals, critical arts, and moves have been set individually.
  • Prevents throw escape option selects involving specific moves such as Shoryuken, etc.
  • All of these new SFV features and game improvements are planned to be ready later this month and we’ll share an exact date soon. More new content, including the Cinematic Story Mode, and game improvements are in the works and we’ll provide those specifics as soon as we can.

Like the sucker I am I bought this latest version.

Can anyone recommend a descent 6 button pad please?

I have the 15th anniversary Street Fighter pad, 360 pad, PS3 pad and a USB SNES pad none of which I like for this game. I find the d-pad on all of the above is not suitable and the SNES pad is a cheap USB copy and not good at all either :(

I heard people on stream saying the new madcatz pad is good i think it's called mad catz fightpad pro. I think snake eyes uses the fightpad pro but looking at reviews in other places people saying it over priced and buttons get sticky.

There is always the older mad catz xbox 360 or ps3 fight pad if you can still get hold of them or the new hori 6 button. Think you would need to try one out for ya self and see what one suits you.

I use the fightstick my self.

I havent got the game yet bit upset none of my favourites made it in the game. No blanka no sagat no akuma no rufus.

Looking forward to getting the game.

Game seems totally broken pc wise still. Getting tonnes of 10007 errors disconnecting me from the server after a few minutes. Discussed with ISP and they have attempted everything to get the game to work. Seems to be a common problem for many PC users.

No fix yet after buying the game in February

Thanks for that. Yeh no space for a stick unfortunately. I will take a look at what you suggested.

8GB update 2 new characters - new cinematic mode sounds great :)

“A Shadow Falls”

The Street Fighter V cinematic story expansion is divided into five acts and takes place between Street Fighter IV and Street Fighter III, bridging the events that happen in between the two stories. “A Shadow Falls,” depicts the ultimate battle between the evil Shadaloo organization and the heroic World Warriors who rise up against them. As the story unfolds, players will enter battles using each of the core 16 characters, in addition to the 6 (released and unreleased) 2016 DLC characters, each with their own unique contribution to the epic clash. “A Shadow Falls” is free content available to all players and it marks the first time in franchise history that consumers will be able to play through this type of cinematic experience in a Street Fighter game. The epic battle between good and evil begins soon… who will RISE UP?

Is this worth getting on PC, now that it's on sale? Does it have a rated matchmaker? Are the bugs n connection problems fixed?

Yeah it definately worth it if you like fighting games, received a lot of stick at release but is a much more fleshed out game now. I rarely get laggy matches now and your matched with other players based on your league points. There still isn't arcade mode but if your looking to play online that shouldn't be an issue.

I can recommend it on sale. I got it for £20 from a key site a while ago. I have unlocked Guile and Balrog so far, about to unlock Akuma shortly. No need to pay extra real money to unlock them. Not interested in the other new characters. Next I will build up my fight money to get Sagat as I heard they maybe releasing him.
