Sorry guys, i never knew about this till Dread old me.
I found the solution, but not the cause - went to the volume control panel, then Properties -> Recording, and lowered the microphone volume. After that, SF4 doesnt see the mic as being on any more, althought i still dont know why it thinks its on in the first place if it isnt even plugged in!!
 
Margaret please confirm when you get a chance what happened in your games with kingrashid, I'm thinking he meant he won a round but got DC and you then won 3-0. If that's the case I'm counting that second game as 3-1 to you.

Please post/confirm scores asap after the game has been played, I intend to update the table everyday. Thanks to rp2000's excel file all I need to do is wack in the scores and the table updates itself. :)
 
just watched the first artheas and luke fight - nailbiting stuff guys, great to see.

i always get owned by bison's head stomp, any advice for people on countering it (i can block/avoid, but then he can just do another)...seems like a really lame move imo...but luke didn't seem to overuse it
 
The head stomp is a very weak move as you can back dash to ruin its tracking (even the EX version) then punish heavily. So with Ken you should back dash -> c.MK -> FB or something like that :)

Can't believe I've never tried that before, what I always do is jump back and sometimes get caught by it in the air.

edit: Just seen the vids, OH MY I didn't expect that, 3-2 and 3-1 to Artheas, VERY WELL PLAYED MATE! :D

Artheas... why do you never seem to kara throw? It's a big part of Goukens game as it makes his throws much harder to tech (can force whiffed throws :D) and gives him a nice range boost on his grab.

HK~LK+LP is how you do it, and it's very easy to do it reliably which doesn't get affected by lag. Just something worth considering, and as Gouken's my secondary character I thought I'd share some tips :)

I dabbled with it previously, but i couldn't get it to come out consistently enough, and decided the reach 'extension' wasnt worth throwing out a roundhouse by accident. or even worse, grabbing air.
I was only aware of the kara throws extending his reach. I tried teching his kara/non kara throws briefly just there, i see no difference between the two (both back throws).

Edit: actually, i decided to spend more than 10 seconds trying it, it's easier than i remembered. Not sure how long it'll take to get into the habit of doing them during a real match though.


I dont think the kara throw is a big part of his game at all tho, his reach increase from it is kinda crap.

It can be done with 100% success rate with only a couple of minutes practice, some people find LK+HK (hold) ~ LP easier to do.

What I mean by difficult teching is that you will have a bigger grab range than them, and can train them to tech at this further distance, resulting in whiffed throws that you can punish.

It probably makes little difference in online play as people do unsafe crap all the time but it's well worth learning for the slight advantage it gives you online and a bigger advantage offline.

You need to be wary of your back throw -> juggle -> demon flip grab as not many people will be caught out by that offline and it can be punished severely.


I've still not got the net ordered at my house as UKOnline's ordering system is still down :(
