OMG Im fed up to death with this DAMN motherboard, i am seriously getting a new one, Today i turned my computer on and the Damn thing keeps getting stuck on the LCD Screen with "CPU INIT" i have searched all over google cant find nothing which i havnt already tried.

Things i have done:

Reset BIOS
Reset CMOS
Removed PCI Cards
Removed 1 Stick of RAM
Removed the other Stick of RAM
Tried Different RAM Slots
Tried Reseating my CPU
Checked the Whole Motherboard over
Checked all Cables and Connections
Removed everything, then Rebuilt the whole computer

I cant think of nothing else to do PLEASE SOMEONE HELP ME GET IT POSTING. Thanks Ross1308
 
I had the same problem with this board,

What a piece of junk i bought one last week got it all set up with a Q6600, couldnt overclock the cpu past 2.8ghz stable.
Tried some new settings from the Asus web site to make it go quicker and it wouldnt post, couldnt reset bios for some reason and tried everything you have to no avail.

Cant believe how bad the board was, fitted my old 650i fatality and sent it back in disgust.
 
Striker extreme is total garbage, without a doubt, the worst board I have ever used, owned or had in my house. I could go on for days about it's problems.

I would get past one problem and then some other problem would come up.

cpu init, ram det, ram init, mcp init, vga init, vga det or random dancing characters on the lcd.

rma it or return it, if you can't get your money back then sell it on the bay of e and pick up a 780i if you need sli or well rounded p35/x38 board if not.
 
my friend had this error one day with his Striker Extreme..... he then bought a Gigabyte X38 DQ6, and RMAed the board.

according to him, CPU Init = motherboard fail.

cpu init means the board is struggling to initialise the cpu. It can be overcome by changing the cpu/ram/psu/resetting the board or cmos/reseating hardware.
Or in my case, boxing it up and taking it back where I bought it from. :rolleyes:

Bloody hell, making motherboards for Chavs now. :(

Hmm thanks guys ive tried different evrything except PSU and asus have already arranged for it to be collected, Today so i need to make sure its dead. Any suggestions lol.
 
I have been doing a lot of research into this motherboard and it seems their are some that are giving problems but in comparison to the amount that are sold and used im of the opinion that its a small amount that are playing up so im still going to get one.
Anyway to case and point the research ive been doing has led me back to the asus forums and this little gem ( sorry mods but its to the official asus forums at least )

Hmm i guess i had a bad one, anyway ive gone with the P5K Premium, i dont need an nForce chipset anyway, Wont be using SLI.

That's my experience and many others have had the same, no 'wtf?'

Congratulations, you are one of the few owners who gets a good one.

As a member of about 9 other hardware forums, each has their own striker extreme moaning thread full of many users with problems.

I've been though loads of Intel boards for my use or other rigs and all of them bar one which arrived in terrible condition (no surprise it was a doa) have worked flawlessly.

I went though 3-4 strikers each as bad as the last.
 
I can beat that OC above (hits wall above 1900FSB or Memory at 1900mhz, no matter how much volts nothing), dont meant he Mobo is not a buggy POS.

It acts up nearly daily at stock and OC'd.

I have the same common issues as others in threads, I got 1 NIC that dont work, and stupid Blue lcd backlight on even though I turned it off at boot (no Asus Probe installed to make it flicker) and same issues as everyone else.

The support sucks and for a mobo as old as this, it hould be mature and sorted by now.

I can not advise anyone to buy one or the Crosshair as I have had both and £70 Mobos I use for customers run flawlessly but the 2 flagships are POS's and all my issues on both are mirrored by other users so common issues.
 
I know, but still it wont do 4GHZ stable with any volts, it wont do 500FSB, it freezes for no reason at any clock randomly and all other issues same as others.

Even though its aimed at overclockers, there is no guarantee but putting overclocking aside, it gived me many issues.

I do have a 1333FSB and its said to be crap for OC'ing them esp GO's.

I would not dream of using a Quad in this Mobo, I dream of getting rid of it TBH.
