Just been through the BBC time line.. Amazing clips..
I remember the breaking news when Challenger exploded.. Broadcasts were interrupted if I recall Ground control - "obviously a major malfunction" - biggest understatement.
I was lucky enough to see the Enterprise land and take off over our School in 1983 whilst piggybacked on a 747. My parents took me up to Stansted on the Monday. This was before Stansted was developed commercially so we were able to get a decent look up close. Always wanted to see a launch.
