Stuff you know that others wouldn't know because of your job.

That if you return anything electrical at Tesco its not tested and you'll never be held accountable.

For instance, buy new xbox, swop it with your RROD'd 3 year old release xbox and take back for a refund. You could probably even swap the hard drives.

You don't wanna be doing that in the store that I'm Tech Support team leader as it will get tested, and we refuse a lot of returns due to people like you :)

that there are a lot of one man bands going round as "IT Consultants" because they know how to change an IP from static to dynamic or have heard of sharepoint

Maybe its changed Mr Jobsworth but I still doubt it happens at one of the local stores.

And people like me? I used to work there thanks very much, who said I ever did what I mentioned?

If a pallet of food gets damaged, even if only a small part on one side, the pallet cannot be delivered to the costumer.

Whenever it happened it did mean a lot of free to take food for us employers though :) Usually ice-cream and veg/fruit.

How insurance fraud is detected.
The differences (or not) between various brands of car history checks.

Nothing terribly ground breaking.

Nothing "goody, goody" about it at all.
Why should people be able to do as suggested?
You would have a complete different attitude to this if it was you running the store in question that everyone was taking their broken stuff back to.

I know somebody who does this kind of **** at Argos - buying new things and then returning their old broken things.
Really ***** thing to do really.

More myth - not more than £10k.

Pretty sure it depends how many resources they will throw into the vetting, because it will vary from person to person, perhaps number of references/time spent in interview/background checks/admin. I figure it might also vary with the kind of job the individual is intending on doing.

School IT budgets are wasted across the country in a major major way! (more than many would expect)

Lots and lots of money is wasted on over specced PCs, unnecessary purchases and a sever lack of price/product comparisons.

I rather thought you were either DV cleared or you weren't - I wasn't aware there were grades of it that could change with the job. There may be other clearances above it (I haven't paid a huge amount of attention whenever it has been described although I believe DV is as high as you can get or need where I work) but DV is DV is DV essentially.

It does take a fair bit of time to get the clearance normally though, even if it's a high priority for the person.

The Foster's at your Wetherspoons aren't really Foster's. :)

It's something different and better?
