There's a neighbourhood cat that keeps sleeping in our back yard. We normally don't really mind but now the bugger's using it as a toilet and we can't seem to get rid of it!

Does anybody have any suggestions?

No I want more humane results please :P

Though kicking the ******* has crossed my mind.

I'm envious of cats tbh, i'd like to be one in my next life. This one is asleep when i'm out for a morning ciggie, and then it's in the same position at 5:00pm - it's not even moved! What a great life!

Lots of things on the market for keeping cats away but if you want to be aggressive, go for the water pistol.

Hmm the smell of a toilet may indeed just be a rotting corpse :p

Poke the dead kitty with a stick.

Erm yes, it crapped in our back garden. I'm not a believer of that South Park episode where things poo when they're about to die.

It could've died and then pooed.

A waterpistol is probably a good idea. A supersoaker might be justified if it slashes your rubbish bags to get to the food in there though. :)

Btw, that was actually a serious post...

OMFG supersoakers! They were the days.

TBH just send the cat into orbit with a pressure hose, he won't be coming back anytime soon.

Just placing bottles of water around the garden (sealed 2ltr bottles not quite full) and orange peel works quite well.

Apart from that, yeah just get the bugger wet, it won't be back in a hurry!

mix some pepper, flour and mustard seed together and sprinkle it where the cat is starting to go. Are you certain it's the same cat as cats usually won't toilet anywhere near where they sleep.

You'll need to reapply it daily for a while, then it should get the idea.

Alternatively, sprinkle pepper there to start with, that might work immediately.

Put orange peel down or if it's not an area you have plants, then spray a citrus cleaner or neat jif lemon (left over from pancake day!) on the spot. Cats hate citrus smells, and won't go where they are.

Finally, surprise it with super soaker for the win.

Edit: with the bottles of water above, apparently the light bouncing off them makes them think it's movement and they won't 'go'. Heard that some cats are attracted to the shinyness but it works well mostly.
