Stupid Mistake!!

I disagree. In my friends case, the owner of the car was present when caught but was never prosecuted and never even appeared in court.

That's the exception to the norm though, especially recently as most forces are on a "no insurance" drive atm.

I suspect it was unlikely that it could be shown your friend knew he had no insurance.

It's different in this case.

Thats a bit of a nightmare with him being a new driver then.

Depends what he does, but it's not exactly going to be easy for him to say she took the car without his knowledge, he's in for it aswell imho, as above the police have been on a no insurance / mot / tax drive for the past few years (and rightfully so).

Burnsey isn't a police officer so why would he write someone up for a traffic offence? Thought he was a special?

Dunno what he is, by what he's said about pulling people he see's driving on the phone i thought he was a cozzer.

If there is public access to the industrial estate nothing would change.

pick the right industrial estate and in theory you wouldnt see a copper there ever. there is always a chance of seeing a copper on a public road.

i dont want to sound preachy, ive done a lot of stupid things in my time with varying degrees of illegality letting an uninsured unlicenced driver out in your car on a public road is a bit sketchy

imo its relatively harmless, but the law will not be impressed so ill cross my fingers for the pair of you.

(quiet industrial estates for the win in the future)

Tell me, Hyper, when you say you were formally interviewed was it in a PACE recording booth or did you have to sign statements?

If neither was the case then it wouldn't surprise me one bit if you never hear anything. And you were considered suitably terrified enough not to ever do it again. BTW you went hands up instantly which makes it even more possible you'll hear nothing.

Gutted mate. Bet she will be in a mood with you aswell!

Costly lesson to learn.

I've been there before but it was my mates mums car and none of us where insured :( Never again.

Best you can do is hands up, admit your mistake and hope they show leniency. Expect to be a few hundred to a couple of thousand out of pocket and pick up a bucket of points each.

Very unlucky. Your going to court and both of you are likely to get some sort of punishment. Almost certainly points - perhaps enough for you to lose your license. When your GF finally gets her license she will have points too. Maybe a fine.

You'll have a grotty day and its going to cost you. Don't dwell on it and move on - just don't do silly things again. Or at least don't get caught.

I had L plates on my GTIR when my wife was learning. :D

Also your insurance costs might be a total nightmare for the next few years depends what they hand out, but if the girl gets done for no insurance don't expect it to be easy to insure anything more powerfull than a fly-mo.
