Stupid Mistake!!

This is because you are so out of touch with reality it's borderline amusing
To comment further on this, I can say this more about you, you seem to be completely unwilling to look further than the water around the island you're on, and you are trying to convince me I can't give my opinion about the system over there. At least I look around me, we have massive flaws here, but car insurance seems spot on, and comparing surrounding countries, only the UK seems to stand out this badly... I can't believe you're defending the insurance policy's over there. I guess I can't be arsed saying more on the matter, but to me it is completely mind boggling how you can defend your car insurance system.

I don't even know what you're getting at with moaning about the insurance situation when the woman didn't have a driving license...

Even with insurance on the car rather than the driver, I'm sure it doesn't allow uninsured people to drive legally.

Can we please continue with this awesome bit of thread derailment, or do we have to go back to the nauseating back slapping again?

I'm doing this now as the stupidity will not cease and I'll end up getting the hump:

You can buy such a policy in the UK if you wish. We have a choice as to how we insure our cars.

If you want an any driver policy then go and buy one? CIS do one IIRC.

Fair enough mate, I did not know that! :)

That Font of knowledge Mr Fox never ceases to amaze me!

Thats because this is Oc *UK*, the OP lives in the *UK*, we all live in the... *UK*.

You don't even know anything about our car insurance policies. Have you ever bought one? Or do you just listen to tales on the internet about people having a cry because they can't insure a Saxo VTR for less than 3 grand living in the middle of Mossside in Manchester aged 17? For the vast majority of people our car insurance works just fine, thanks.

I pay less than 500 quid to get insure a Group 17 car. I only paid a grand to insure it aged 22!

That would be lying

Can't he pretend to ''think she had a license'' ?

I guess that the no insurance thing weighs heavier. Unlucky though, I let a couple of my mates without a license drive a couple of times in my car to practice, luckily never caught.

Shame the law there puts you at fault too, one of my mates WAS caught in his cousins car, all he got is a 300€ fine for not having a license, the cousin wasn't to blame, sometimes I'm happy to not live over there with all the insurance crap going on there.

Hope it all goes well though for ya and that you won't be punished too badly !

Perjury/perverting the course of justice are not good starts in lfe....

In this case she also didn't have a license either, and he didnt have the experience to supervise her.

No way should they have been let off with a warning.

I agree entirely.

And yes, on a technical point, the damage caused could be the same as if she was a persistent offender.

However, thankfully in this case there was no damage caused. In other areas of criminal law there are variations for the severity of the crime committed. For example, most punches would be classed as common assault, but you can kill someone with 1 punch.

I'm glad the OP has learned from this, he may be extremely lucky and escape with a warning (which to be fair I think is too lenient) or he may still be lucky and escape with a below-license busting level of points and a fine.

Save telling policemen lies for serious offences, not slam dunk daft ones :D

It obviously wasnt a quiet road either if a police car caught you.

Could have been the only car on there at the time, I was blitzing it down a country lane, 'playing' with another car behind me.

It was a police car, and when they overtook me when we reached a city the guy in the passenger seat smiled and gave me a thumbs up.

Maybe his granddad had a 620ti or something. :p
