Hello pieman109, unless acesausage is forcing Crysis to play in DirectX 9, he will be playing it in DirectX 10 by default. Now simply switching Operating System's will give very inconclusive results if this is the case because, when comparing a game on two different Operating System platforms, the test conditions need to be as similar as possible i.e. the exact same settings, resolution and DirectX architecture.
Now for arguments sake, say acesausage was playing Crysis in DirectX 9 when using Windows Vista and on the high settings. The results were that the frames per second were pretty low and the only way to boost the frames per second is to lower the settings down to medium. I would be generally surprised and pretty shocked actually that if he switches to Windows XP, he would then be able to play Crysis on high settings perfectly well. I honestly can't see that happening though.
Windows XP may still be slightly ahead as regards to playing games. However, certainly not to the extent where you can change the settings so dramatically, i.e. Medium to High settings.
Now feel free to say otherwise but please if you can, show me some evidence that backs up your statements. Admittedly, I cannot backup anything that I have just said specifically in regards to Crysis performing near enough the same on Windows XP and Windows Vista. However, may I direct you
here. It would be greatly appreciated if you had a read through that particularly article and I will be very interested in hearing your reply.
Hello acesausage, what I said wasn't perfectly clear so I do apologize. What I should have said was more along the lines off, the 8800GTS 320 can't simply play Crysis in
DirectX 10 on high settings. Now when running under DirectX 9, it is a completely different situation, you may and probably will find that you can play on much higher settings to that of when running Crysis in DirectX 10.
Sorry I wasn't perfectly clear in the first place.
