Stuttering in Cs 1.6 with core 2 system?

yup, hands up i read it as CS source.

i would suggest the problem is similar to those experienced by dual core users of old (i.e pre conroe)

The solutions were as already mostly stated, update driver, set it to single core and a slightly more odd one that MAY have been AMD only but made a big diff for me was to change the clock timer by setting a boot time switch in the boot.ini (i think its /usepmtimer) though i doubt VERY much this is applicable to intel CPU's i wonder if theres an alternative.

Good luck :)

Ive just ran 1.6 and CZ no problems here at all even without setting it to a certain core.

Your CPU could be throttling down maybe? Use intels TAT to see what the actual temps are :p Speedfan reports mine as 53C load but intels TAT says 72C load

Could be the drivers... Using 91.47's here :)

yeah i used 91.47's on my amd rig and they were fine so going to switch back to them! can't roll back drivers as i have just formatted so the 91.52's were the only drivers to be installed :( will try later in this order :
1) change to 91.47 drivers
2) set to affinity to 1 core
3) change the boot.ini (a quick google and this applies to intel aswell as amd)

*note my cpu definately isn't throttling down as i checked this when my comp is idle and cpu-z reports the correct cpu speed all the time!

for reference what would i disable in bios just incase it is?

Thats speedstep not throttling down. Throttling down is where your CPU is getting too hot so it slows itself down to lower the heat output. Im not sure you can stop the CPU from throttling as you'd need it to really... Speedstep is turned off automatically on Asus boards!

You've got the Athlon 64 X2 processor drivers installed?
Is there anything similar for Conroe processors?

I had a similar *stuttering* issue when I first moved to Duel-Core (Opteron) which was resolved by installing that AMD update thingy?

Good luck anyway harris1986! :)

my temps are fine, the problem is happening at stock clocks aswell as overclocked!

i get no choke or loss and ping as stated is between 10-12!

just reverted back to the 91.47 drivers and i now get it very rarely like once every 3rounds where as before i was getting it 3-4times a round! i will try the new 92 series drivers see if these make a difference.

ok update, the 92.91's give out the same amount of skipping as i originally had, but the 91.47's are proving ok with lesser skipping! will try the boot.ini edit and setting the affinity!

further update, i've set affinity to one core and still get the skipping! so i'm starting to get really fed up now! and wishing i had my amd setup back lol

May sound silly, but have you upgraded your sound card drivers?
(I had this problem with the original Audigy when it was released)

EDIT:
And if you have the net_graph on do you get lag spikes at all?

i have the stock sound card drivers that came with my fatal1ty but the strange thing is that even without my sound card installed and just using the onboard i get the skipping too? net_graph3 shows i get some choke and loss but it's random most of the time it's at 0 then suddenly it will jump up to 30

*and yes i have tried setting to one core and this didn't work.

really starting to get annoyed with this, and seriously thinking about jacking in conroe and going back to amd x2!

Im guessing this is only happening online and not when you create your own server? If it is have you tried updating your network card drivers?

i'm using the built in wireless that came with the p5b deluxe version! i'l try un-installing this and using my old pci network card to see if this makes a difference? but with the built in wireless i always get excellent signal strength.

i haven't tried it when creating my own server i'l try that later and let you know!
