Summer 2018 - thread

I suffer from severe adult eczema (one of the most acute cases my consultant dermatologist has ever seen in all his years), and one of my many medications forbids it.

Last Summer I forgot, and walked down the local shop in shorts, within half an hour of getting back the bottom half of my legs that were exposed to the sun (from my knees to my socks) had turned bright red, swollen up and started to ooze.

I'm on a medication like that. It's called Amiodarone. I can only go in the sun for short periods. Too long and I get very sore and my skin goes a mottled blue and bloats up terribly. I like just sitting in the nice warm shade. Never really liked sitting bang in the sun for long periods.

Went out for my first 2018 evening pub outside after work Friday evening.

Good stuff :thumbs up:

Weather was glorious yesterday and the day before. A mate and I were car-pooling to and from work; we both moved to the South Coast for work in June last year. We made plans to do a barbecue on the beach and hire jet-ski's at some point this summer :D

Although last two days looked nice when I was at work.

This morning looked nice but now very overcast and rain coming apparently. Typical north east weekend.

At this rate I'll have to take a day off at some point to wash and wax the car.

I saw my first bumblebee yesterday, unfortunately it was the noise of it bouncing off the windscreen that got my attention. Big fella too, a loss to his community :(.

Forecast is for rain and more rain here.

More heat please.Been thoroughly fed up with this winter, and I usually love the cold. Already started sorting the garden for those long hot summer evenings.

its the rain and strong winds ive been getting tired of ,just want to go to my favourite grassy knoll near Tintagel and chill with my kindle and a flask of tea and also not have to wear a 5/4 wetsuit .today looks ideal to get my garden a little more sorted then take stuff to tip in newquay or tintagel

I just want a few weeks of dry, warm and sunny weather. It’s not too much to ask and allows relaxed evenings in the garden eating meat and drinking cold beers. Also means I can take my car for a proper blast without stones and puddles around every corner.

And a pasty from the shop in Tintagel too, epic pasties in the one on the bend with chairs outside.

hate the summer, well I should say what the summer does to me. Bad hayfever, hot uncomfortable house, no sleep every night and hot unbearable working conditions. Roll on October, bring back the winter I say.

I feel for you.

I have it on my scalp and thats bad enough.
Amazing how hard it is to treat skin vs other technologies we have.

For me I'm hoping to purchase an fold out kayak, go on more camping and sea trips, love walking etc. But all of this is no fun in the winter.

Last year id been kayaking several times by now.
This year oonly once!

Personally I wish England was as far south as Southern France. That would be perfect. Winter is too long. 20-30 is my ideal range for hobbies I like.

25-30= beach, open water swimming
20-25=kayaking, walking, general outside stuff

Where do you Kayak, if you don't mind me asking? Do you paddle alone?

Used to a fair bit when I was younger, and would like to get back into. The Cam in the Grantchester sections is particularly scenic.

Anywhere I can park!
Look for a spot on Google maps where river is near a road.
Then check Google Street View see of I can park on road side or not. (love street view!)
If weather is good set Off
I take my kayak on my passenger seat
Get there and prep it then get on.

Often go on my own, sometimes with gf or friends.

But yeah I go anywhere I can get my kayak on the water!

That's the river you mentioned. About 30 miles for me. I'd kayak on that! But dunno if I'd find any blockages!
