Summer Transfer Thread 2018

By all accounts he's been phenomenal this season and to be fair to him, there wasn't a great deal more he could have done for any of our goals. Even the lower end figures of £50m is a lot for any keeper though and by the sounds of things he's likely to cost significantly more than that too.

Mind you, by all accounts Karius was phenomenal in the season before we signed him too :)

If he's going to cost that much I'd rather stick with Karius and spend on some cover. We're very thin up front (Solanke and Ings aren't enough IMO) and if Origi comes back we have at least one too many up front. Keita is coming obviously but Milner isn't getting any younger and Can is likely off (and good riddance, we want players who want to play for the club) so we need one or two more IMO.
Two absolute musts this window are another forward that we can bring into the side without weakening the team and another midfielder in addition to Keita. You can then make a case for a keeper, cb and another attacker.

I can't say I saw anything of him but after we signed him people were saying he was decent that year, Allison though really has been outstanding and has been talked up amongst the best keepers in the world. That's being reflected in the potential fee though.

Karius was widely regarded as the second best keeper in the Bundesliga when we signed him. He will go to the world cup and could be the German no. 1 in a couple of years.

First transfer window I'm genuinely excited for!

Attacking wise I think we're pretty well stocked, maybe a wide midfielder for cover but I'm not too fussed about our ability going forward.

As for the defence, we need a new 1st choice CB urgently, and a commanding Goalkeeper. Kos looks set to miss the start of next season and he isn't getting any younger, I wouldn't be surprised to see him spend most of next season on the bench if we can get someone decent in. Although we'd have to make sure Mavropanos gets a decent amount of games as he already looks like the best CB we have. (wrote this out before our game tonight :o)

I'd like to see us sign a keeper too, but another season in the Europa might make it difficult to get a top class keeper without spending a fortune.

Obviously our most important and difficult signing is going to be a first team coach. There were rumblings that we're looking to get them sorted before the World Cup, ideally I'd like us to have it sorted long before then.

I think a defensive midfielder is a priority. We've not had one for years.

Mignolet could be available? (please?)

I want another top cb like dijk before replacing Karius, I think since having a decent chance in the team he has improved and can improve further.

Not sure if these fekir links are true not seen him play either to know of would be good

If Toby is leaving Spurs I'd be in for him at Anfield.

29 years old, spent most of the season injured, would cost a lot, is leaving Spurs because he wants a massive contract - no, I can't see us being interested.

There was an article I saw was on this is anfield which was in regards to a cb, de lit? Is only 18 and leaving ajax on a boson, Dijk Dutch counter part never seen him but based on what they wrote he sounded great

So Rooney is off to the MLS to DC United, £12mill deal agreed in principle from what I have read on sky sports news.

I can't find who the 12m is going to or how long Rooney signed for Everton to. I can't blame him for wanting out again, I'd rather play for a sunday league local side than fat sams brand of football.

Isn't he available cheap either by contract clause or coming towards the end of his contact though?
Not quite. He has a year left on his deal but Spurs have an option to extend that for another year. If Spurs choose to extend his deal then there is a £25m buyout clause from next summer. So effectively he's got 2 years left on his deal but next summer he can be had for £25m - next summer he'll be 30 years old, in which case £25m isn't very cheap.

I suspect Spurs will be open to selling him this summer but I don't think it's a given that he'll leave. Spurs will want big money and there's only a few clubs that will spend big money on a 29 year old that's had his injury problems this year - if one of those don't come in for him it's difficult to see where he goes.

He apparently wants a big pay rise as well. Levy is such a cheap ass.

Rooney is crap now and has been for years, him going will be good for Everton imo

Providing hes replaced i agree. He is their top goal scorer though and a lot went through him.
