Providing hes replaced i agree. He is their top goal scorer though and a lot went through him.
EFC stats 17/18
Wayne Rooney EFC Team ranking-
1st - Goals scored (10 goals from 27 starts)
2nd - Chances created (Sigurdsson 1st)
1st - Shots
1st - Shots on target
2nd - Key passes per game (Sigurdsson 1st)
1st - Goals involved in.
EFC failed to win a PL match without Rooney.
Statistics can be manipulated to paint a certain picture though.
For example, 4 of his goals came at the start of the season during which time he was played as a striker or just behind the striker, 3 of his goals have been penalties.
If you take away the period Nov 29th-Dec 18th (by far his best period) which saw games against West Ham, Huddersfield, Liverpool, Newcastle and Swansea then he's scored 4 goals (1 of which a penalty) with 0 assists in 22 starts or 26 appearances. If you then take away his games as a striker and count only his 'preferred' Scholesy'esque creative masterclass midfield role it's 0 goals and 0 assists in something like 20 games (again I am ignoring the period of 5 games where he really excelled against 4 struggling teams and Liverpool).
Considering Rooney has played parts of the season as a striker and is the penalty taker you'd expect him to be top of the shots/goals list compared to Sigurdsson and the other stats seem to show Sigurdsson as being more creative, which is more what you'd want from a midfielder.
Everton failing to win a match without Rooney? well they've only won 13 games all season and those were against small clubs or struggling teams.
Everton wins this season:
Stoke
Bournemouth
Watford
West Ham
Huddersfield
Newcastle
Swansea
Leicester
Crystal Palace
Brighton
Stoke
Newcastle
Huddersfield
Is it not plausable that Everton would have beaten those teams without him in the team?
I think if he'd played all season like he did during the 3 week period in late November to mid December he'd probaby have been challenging Salah for player of the season, otherwise considering the money he is on and his attempt to oust Sam Allardyce and presumably make a bit of a power grab I'd say 100% get shut and move on without him. If they're going to keep him, then play him as a striker no matter how much he cries and attempts to force the manager to play him in midfield.
