Summer Transfer Thread 24/25

I can't quite believe spurs are paying 65m for solanke :p

I remember watching him play for us (Liverpool) and shaking my head.

I know he scored a few last season but I still fail to see he's a particularly good player.

Oh well, a nice 20% sell on fee coming our way so the tight fisted owners can pocket it.

Spurs just want a donkey through the middle to hold it up and allow the runners to get in behind, like Bayern does with Kane (maybe not as much a Donkey). It's silly money, but it's what you pay for English players.

I guess the context is that they have Richarlison who has quite well filled that "donkey" role so not losing him and adding another equine for £65m seems particularly incompetent. Couldn't they get Toney for that sort of money?
edit: spoke to a mate who has Spurs season ticket - he thinks Solanke fits Angeball system better than Toney hence the bid.

Yeah, I don't think Richarlison does that role particularly well; he wants to hold it up and then turn; Toney would probably be the same; too much interest in scoring goals. Suspect Richarlison will go anyway.

Last season they didn’t have enough seats in the video room for the whole squad and many players had to sit on the floor while watching videos of training and past matches and future opponents. Sure Chelsea have always had dozens on the books but a dozen or more were always out on loan. This group don’t appear to be going anywhere.

I actually think he's quality. I think we (Liverpool) misused him. He looked a huge talent in Chelsea's younger sides and for England's youth teams, and I think that what he's done for Bournemouth is about his level - I don't think he overperformed. He deserves a chance at Spurs, and if they use him right I think it's good business all round

I can't quite believe spurs have actually paid 65m for Solanke. It was bad enough they dumped 60 on Richarlison.

This is up there with the 100m for Mudryk/Antony as one of the most ridiculous fees for someone so average.

Don’t you dare try to take our title of most overpaid for player. And Antony is definitely not average. Awful, yes. Average no. :p
