Really hope that isn't true, seems like there are rumours about several of our youngsters leaving (there was one a few weeks ago about Fryers as well)

Ignore my previous post as I get the whole 25 man squad thing now and the dates that define you as an under 21 player what I have realised though is that we're going to have a real problem buying anyone in the summer without letting anyone go (it's pretty much a situation that for every player we buy we've got to sell someone). The only player we wont have to register for next season PL is Jones but from what I understand he will need to be registered for the UCL. Our squad of players that need to be registered for next season:

De Gea, Lindegarrd, Amos
Rafael, Fabio, Smalling, Ferdinand, Evans, Vidic, Evra (Jones)
Valencia, Nani, Young, Park, Cleverley, Carrick, Scholes, Giggs, Anderson, Fletcher
Rooney, Hernandez, Welbeck, Berbatov, Owen

One would imagine we'll have to let Owen go to make room for just 1 signing, unless he's happy being keep around but not registered to actually play in any competition :p

Be interesting to see what dead weight Man City get rid of in the summer

Tevez, Adebayor, Boyata, RSC, Bridge should save a few quid a week in wages to get another couple of big names in. I'm going to go on record an say Van Persie and Bale will be their big summer targets (yes I may be crazy)

Will Scholes be around next season?

Will Fletcher be registered?

Will Fletcher be registered?

If Scholes keeps playing the way he has done since he returned I think he's good enough for a spot in the squad but at the end of the day it was his choice to come out of retirement will he be satisfied with just 4 extra months of football? I wouldn't imagine he will be tbh.

Fletcher is obviously a question mark, you can adjust your squads come January so it is possible that he may be left out initially.

Right now I imagine Owen will be let go, Amos will be sent out on a loan and a younger keeper will be promoted to 3rd choice that opens up 2 spots. The summer after next we probably wont have this problem as I'm sure come 2013 Giggs & Scholes will decide to retire and Berbatov and Park will have gone as well

EDIT: Of course the other option is that we only sign players who are 20 or under in the summer so no to Gaitan yes to Gotze

Boyata won't be leaving but the rest will. Along with Weiss.

I cannot really see us signing anyone. Dare i say no value in the market :p

We will get out as many as possible and i could be wrong and Khaldoon will sanction a 20m move or so for one player. Be it a player like Hazard or someone like Hummels. Kompany and Lescott have been playing very well though this season.

Are there any really promising players out on loan , I cant think of any that really spring to mind (I know there are some potentially a couple of seasons away ie from the U18 /reserves squad) that will come straight up to the main squad without loans first - after what happened with Pogba and Morrison barely getting a game

Hopefully fryers is still around (signs a better contract) and the new guy from City, Veseli will flesh out Cup squad a little - but like you I cant see any significant holes to allow for mature additions

Owen, Berba?, Anderson? Evra? (not suggesting that any of the last three are likely to be sold, but they all have question marks over their heads for different reasons surely)

edit - I have only seen this referenced once, so it may well be incorrect but is the below correct or not?

•17 “foreign” players over 21 years old
•8 *extra* home-grown players over 21 years old (plus one more for every “foreign” player fewer than 17)

I make it that Utd only have 12 foreign players currently......so we can possibly recruit 5 homegrown players of any age without an issue if the bold is correct (admittedly Im not sure of any available home grown players Utd might want lol)

Surprise surprise

David Platt: Hey boss who you thinking of signing this summer?
Mancini: Dunno Dave, who are United looking at?
David Platt: Well there's that lad from Benfica according to the papers....
Mancini: Get Benfica on the phone!!!

Editor: What good players are clubs looking at this summer.
Reporter: There is a lad at Benfica that utd are looking at.
Editor: Link him with City as well, fill out the paper. No point doing some actual work.

Shocker as two teams who are going for the same competitions want to sign the best players.

I did have a long post typed about our academy players and the ones out on loan but then I scrapped it as it wouldn't get read.

Veseli was released by City and we decided to take him until the end of the season and see how he went, he was a punt and our scouts saw him years back and recommended him then, wasn't a major signing of their youth or nout.

Funny you should mention your academy as your u18's were beaten again today as were your u16's. I believe that we have won at every youth level v utd. Despite us having our best players out on loan, injured or away for international games frequently eg Suarez, Rekik, Assulin and Ibrahim.

I am not saying that you don't have a good academy as you have produced a steady amount of good players over the years with some exceptional ones but our academy is really good! and with the new facilities being built hopefully even better.

You're in serious denial if you cant admit that a lot of your recent signings were linked with us first; Silva? Check. Dzeko? Check. Nasri? Check. Gaitan (if you do sign him)? Check. Sanchez (not that he ever wanted to sign for you)? Check.

It's not simply a case of two teams at a similar standing being interested in the same players as you're not seeing Chelsea being linked with them as well.

Aside from Silva im quite happy with this policy!

I'm a Roma fan, and expecting a top market!

Isla is wanted by United, Liverpool and Roma. When asked about Roma, he said he would like to go there. Pozzo allowing him to move for around 10M.

I seriously wouldn't put any credence on who clubs are 'linked with' these days, I mean what percentage of rumoured transfers actually happen, maybe 5-10% at best?

In fact I'd say nowadays most top players that come to England are linked with multiple clubs before they sign, e.g. Arsenal were linked to Mata, Kompany, Y.Toure, Aguero, Ronaldo etc.
