You're in serious denial if you cant admit that a lot of your recent signings were linked with us first; Silva? Check. Dzeko? Check. Nasri? Check. Gaitan (if you do sign him)? Check. Sanchez (not that he ever wanted to sign for you)? Check.

It's not simply a case of two teams at a similar standing being interested in the same players as you're not seeing Chelsea being linked with them as well.
It is completely irrelevant who they were linked to first, the fact is that we signed them because they are good players not because Mancini picked up the paper and decided he would bid on the same player just for the sake of it.

The media will always link the best players with someone else eg utd first anyway so that the next they can create the MEGA EXCLUSIVE 100m BID FROM CITY.

It is very easy for media to link everyone and anyone to City because of the money. Why bother doing some actual investigative work when you can just watch a game on the Saturday and then on Monday create a story linking City with the player who played the best and people will believe it.

Again, shocker as two teams going for trophies want to sign the best players.

I seriously wouldn't put any credence on who clubs are 'linked with' these days, I mean what percentage of rumoured transfers actually happen, maybe 5-10% at best?

In fact I'd say nowadays most top players that come to England are linked with multiple clubs before they sign, e.g. Arsenal were linked to Mata, Kompany, Y.Toure, Aguero, Ronaldo etc.

5% is pushing it with the amount of garbage you hear.

I did have a long post typed about our academy players and the ones out on loan but then I scrapped it as it wouldn't get read.

Veseli was released by City and we decided to take him until the end of the season and see how he went, he was a punt and our scouts saw him years back and recommended him then, wasn't a major signing of their youth or nout.

Just reading about Tunicliffe and Keane and a few others, but from the sounds of it even the most advanced are probably a few seasons away at least (possibly Petrucci (sp?) could be ready for next year, but with how hesitant SAF has been over Pogba Morrison, Im not so sure)

Didnt mean to imply Veseli was anything amazing or anything, but might be useful to flesh out CC squad etc :)

Funny you should mention your academy as your u18's were beaten again today as were your u16's. I believe that we have won at every youth level v utd. Despite us having our best players out on loan, injured or away for international games frequently eg Suarez, Rekik, Assulin and Ibrahim.

I am not saying that you don't have a good academy as you have produced a steady amount of good players over the years with some exceptional ones but our academy is really good! and with the new facilities being built hopefully even better.

And who has won the most recent FA Youth Cup.....Utd have, so what if your team beats us on one occasion , its a season of games that matter not one individual score line......but then being such a small club, I guess you still need to realise this LOL

5% is pushing it with the amount of garbage you hear.

I would say 1% is pushing it lol (thanks ot blogs from Joe - I know a man at X club - lol)

:o

So City weren't trying to get one over on United by signing Tevez and then putting up the Welcome to Manchester banner?

City weren't trying to get one over on United by taking Hargreaves in the hope he'd actually start playing again?

One of City's foremost priorities is to see who we're after and then go for them themselves. Chelsea did it when they first started out and now it's City's turn. No shame in admitting it, if you're going to steal someone's transfer targets may as well be those of the most successful clubside of the PL era ;) :p

Would not be surprised if Olivier giroud gets linked with a few clubs this summer. He has looked excellent in the PSG - Montpellier game tonight.

I saw that yesterday, apparently he's out of favour

Doesn't he play every single game?

Why would that stop the media sprouting rubbish :D

We simply must buy at least one PROPER midfielder.

Please. :(

New lease of life for the Ginger Prince, means SAF doesnt have to buy a midfielder for at least two seasons surely!!! :D

Dirty rumour that the Glazers have slapped a maximum spend of £30m total for the summer - hopefully this is false, otherwise its going to be tough going for a few the next 18 months + (given SAF rarely spends in Jan)

I would expect a few team to come after Sessegnon after this seasons performances

dont think we can keep hold of him but we will make a decent profit.

We dnt really need to spend much more than that though..We just need a good midfielder and maybe a RB...and a left back..maybe a left winger would be nice too.

Should have sold berbatov and gotten the money and put it to use to be fair. Would have made sense.

What about adebayoor back to city...berbat to spurs and an exchange for modric l? That way we can do unprofitable business a grand total of 3 times?

adebayor has no place at city. i wouldn't mind berbatov back but i'd still want £35m+ for modric in the deal.

i genuinely believe modric is happy at spurs and scott parker has been a big part in that, there is massive mutual respect and a bit of a bromance.
