Sounds like Rubbish. Don't buy that for a minute. He would never leave it so late to make such a decision. Moyes would have been his choice for a very very long time.

I would be a little surprised as well. Ancellotti seems like a top manager and nice bloke so I doubt he would be telling people about it even if it were true.

With regards to Rooney, if we can get him back to his best then its worth keeping him. If not, get rid.

Supposedly Giggs, SAF & Moyes met yesterday before the parade in a Cheshire hotel to discuss Rooney.....but thats the Sun for you, so it could be complete **** lol

Surely he's burnt his bridges with the club now, twice this has happened, Man U should just get shot and replace him.

Should have sold him after the first time. That last contract increase came at what was, at the time, the worst form in his career. Two and a half years later his form still hasn't gotten close to what it was. He's been at a different level (in a bad way) for 3 seasons now, yet some idiots will say it's been about 3 months. These are the same morons that chant "Rooney, Rooney" after he's done little.

The fact we can get good money in for a player who's threatened to leave, has been out of form, who has next to no short passing game, can't beat a man, seldom hits the target, lacks power, couldn't trap a bag of cement and worst of all, burns out after 30 minutes, is mind-boggling. Plus he's on a ridiculous sum of money per week for performances that warrant a mere fraction of them.

RVP was brilliant this season when playing with Hernandez at the start of the season, then when Rooney came back in RVP's performances 'dipped', once Rooney came back out for Kagawa (a much more natural number 10) or Hernandez, Van Persie was back to being in games.

Our ambition has surpassed his own, he now doesn't like not being the star because we've signed better players.

While I agree, do you not think there's a chance Moyes might be able to get him fired up (and properly fit) again?

I do think if we can get £40m~ odd for him (might be wishful thinking) and get his undoubtedly massive wage off the books, we could reinvest that in the squad and end up better off for it, by quite a margin too.

Aside from that I think handing in two transfer requests, especially in this fairly short space of time, is pretty pathetic.

Sure if SAF couldn't get him playing no other manager would?

As good as he has been at managing players, once a manager and player are at odds it doesn't matter how good the manager is. A change of manager might do him good and put the fire back in his belly.

By all accounts Moyes is going to hit the United boys hard in pre-season fitness so if he doesn't shape up, I would hope Moyes gets rid of him before the start of the season. An in form and hungry Rooney is deadly. An overweight and disinterested Rooney is not worth having.

Surely the question for utd fans isn't if he's asked to leave, or relationship with the fans, do you want a fat, unfit, misses 1/4 of the season through unprofessionalism Rooney getting paid 250k a week to be at best, the second best striker at the team, usually playing in a role that is fairly ill suited to him?

There are significantly better players for the role Rooney has actually played for the majority of the season, most of them could cost significantly less than 250k a week.

No one cares how much Rooney earns apart from you DM

No. It's nothing new for Rooney to be like this, so I think he's beyond just being unfit for a season. The things he's getting wrong are the very basics of football, his short passing and control in particular.

We've struggled a few times this season because we've essentially been trying to force him in the team. He's not our best CF, he's not our best in the hole, he's not our best in CM, nor our best on the wings. When you can get big money for someone who isn't the best in any particular position and is on £13m-a-year, then it's definitely best to get them off the books.

Whilst Moyes may be able to get more out of him, there's still no guarantee he's going to be the best option in any of those positions anyway.

There's strong reports that Chelsea have agreed a £42.5m deal for Cavani.
Don't know what to say really, we need a good striker but not sure we need one who costs that much and tbh we could probably get 2 Rooneys for that amount.

He's a player with a great touch, although you're signing him (if you are) off the back of his least impressive season in terms of match performances in a while. He has a great first and second touch and can score goals, but he's far from a goal machine too. Not sure he was ever really worth more than around £25-£30m, think there's better value, but forwards are in an inflated market at the moment (Fernandinho at £30-£40m potentially, is another example of this.)

The biggest issue is whether (or how long until) he can adapt to the English game. South American's usually manage quite well (or have in recent years) but he also has a style that seems to suit the Italian leagues, that doesn't always mean he'll cut it in the English ones (see Balotelli.)

That said, it would be great to see him in the league. You do fear it would limit Lukaku's chances even further with Torres and Ba (who both feature quite heavily in all the new club shirt advertisements) likely to still be there.

Fernandinho will be around 23m from what I read and that seems a reasonable price for a player of his ability and experience.

After watching the Reading v City game for the teams out there looking for a keeper, Alex McCarthy looks a great prospect. Kept them in the game tonight.

The real question is, how much has Nando's price dropped since joining Chelsea? Would a club even want to pay 20-30m for him?

They would need to get rid of him if they were to spend that much on another striker. Having 50m sitting on the bench would be silly and you just know Cavani won't want to play rotation with Torres or any other striker.

77 goals in 103 games for Napoli. He will be going to either Chelsea or City this summer guaranteed.
