I think thats a fair price.![]()
Despite Pigeon's hatred for him, he's not that bad, he's just not that good either.
The fee's what it is because of his wages.

Exactly the reason why he is on loan. Suspended though? Innocent until proven guilty, surely.
And Brian Ruiz. None of them will move more than about 10 yards per match!
Hopefully true.Lee Ryder @lee_ryder 3m
Sounds like #lfc are offering Downing around clubs, player on huge wages #nufc

Chronicle sources saying #nufc aren't in for Stewart Downing

He has as much fight in him as the French, does that count?
Under police investigation, I would have thought suspension until the investigation was concluded.
I still don't understand why Suarez would have wanted to move to Arsenal, I mean, totally get a Real Madrid, Barcelona, Bayern, hell I'd have even understood somewhere like Paris but Arsenal.
Because quite simply we are the only ones interested in him...no other team is going to touch him with a bargepole with the way he is on the field ie his antics and attitude etc.
I imagine if Real dont get Bale then they might put in a cheeky bid for Suarez and watch how Liverpool then roll over and say yeh hes for sale.
Stewart Downing to Newcastle? For £5m.

Wantaway striker Wayne Rooney has not travelled with the Manchester United squad for a pre-season friendly in Sweden.
The England star, who was the subject of a second rejected bid from Chelsea this weekend, was expected to face AIK in Stockholm on Tuesday but has been left behind due to a shoulder injury, according to United boss David Moyes.
"Wayne hurt his shoulder in a fall during a match on Saturday," Moyes told the club's official website. "It's not too serious and I don't expect it to keep him out for too long.
"I'm disappointed he's missing the game because we were keen to get him back involved and ready to play."

Rooney's absence, just hours after United confirmed they had turned down an offer - thought to be in the region of £30m - for his services, will feed already fevered speculation about his future at Old Trafford.
Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho, who admitted last month that Rooney was his sole summer target, had seen one bid of around £20m rebuffed before an improved figure was knocked back on Sunday.
Rooney, with two years left on his current deal, is reportedly ready to try and force through a move by handing in a written transfer request but United reiterated their hardline stance on Monday morning.
"A bid was received yesterday (Sunday) and immediately rejected," a United spokesman said. "Our position remains that he is not for sale."
Nemanja Vidic will skipper the United side in Sweden after missing the first leg of the tour due to a sciatica problem, while Portuguese winger Bebe, signed for £7.4m in 2010 but yet to start a game in the Premier League, is also in the squad.
united turned down £30m for rooney? fools. why not use this and the £30m already bid for fabregas to make getting fabregas are far more realistic proposition?
So dp you think6we will move on and try to sign another midfielder or because w3 can't get fabregas we'll just sign some more defenders or something instead.
Thats a cracking idea. Sell one of our best players to a main rival and then hope that Barca have just been lying about not selling Fabregas. We would perhaps consider selling Rooney if we actually got Fabregas but certainly not before he was already in a United shirt.
