Great signings for Monaco.
I wonder how true this is;

Moutinho and Rodriguez signed for 70m €.Rumour has it that Porto sold Rodriguez for 69m so to pay to Sporting only 25% of 1m from Moutinho

I bet Sporting are fuming! and Rodriguez is now the second most expensive footballer

Nah it isn't true they paid 25m for Moutinho. Would have been funny if they did do that though.

Christian Benteke wanting a move to Arsenal is the latest rumour, wouldnt mind seeing him play for us as he scored 19 goals for Villa this season. Dont think he will come as he has 3 yrs left on his contract at Villa unless he forces a move and not sure if Arsenal would buy him or not.

Also rumours of Vermaelen on his way out and to be replaced by Ashley Williams of Swansea...again not sure if he would be any good..mind you Verm has been absolutely terrible this season for us, so error prone and lost his starting place to Kos and Mert, who have been pretty effective from the stats i have seen.

I'd actually be quite happy to get both of those in tbh. Whatever defender is bought I can only see being a backup for Kos and Mert (Unless they spend big on a Subotic or the like, which isn't going to happen!) And Benteke has shown he's a clinical finisher, so I'd have no issue giving him a chance, and to make it even better; He's only young.

If Chelsea are being idiots and not wanting to keep Lukaku though, maybe they should see if they've any interest in selling? He's already at the very least on a par with their current strikers, and he's going to get sent out on loan again! Utterly bizarre.

As far as our signings go we've been linked with:

Strootman
Gonalons
Sanogo
Jovetic
Higuain
Williams
Rooney (lol)
Julio Cesar

Out of those I'd say the only one that I can see us actually signing is Sanogo, young, French, out of contract I think, also has given an interview saying if he left Auxerre Arsenal would be his choice so I'm guessing he'll be coming at some point. No idea what he's like.

He scored 8 goals in 7 French League games this season, 4 from coming off the Bench. He is tall, young, and seems to know where the 18 yard box is.

Bendtner - End of loan
Anelka - End of Contract
Iaquinta - End of Contract
Matri - ~12M
Quagliarella ~15M
Giovinco ~12M
Vucinic 15M-20M

A bit crazy I know :p

Juve have been just buying and loaning ridiculous numbers of strikers lately, been baffling me all season.

Will FFP affect Monaco's ability to start throwing all of this money around? They can have Park back as well if they want, no charge. :p

Nope, Monaco just got promoted, they aren't in europe, they shouldn't expect to be in the champions league for 2-3 years anyway. If they spent 500mil this season, got into a champs league spot next year but couldn't take it, they'd still be second and they'd be 2 years away from a "blank sheet" for FFP. If they don't spend 500mil and infact spend say sub £50mil and stay in the FFP good books, they've got zero chance of being in the champs league in 3 years anyway.

Ultimately FFP doesn't matter, same for Arsenal if we did the same, we aren't going to win the champs league in 3 years, spend craploads one year, get a great squad, 3 years later we'll be in the champs league back in the FFP numbers we need and competitive in Europe.

FFP, even if you got banned, has no meaning, because for most teams without overspending they won't be competitive in europe to start with, so what the hell does it matter if you aren't in europe either way?

AS for the young striker Arsenal are looking at.... meh, I said the same previously and in January, I don't care if a player is good first and foremost, I care if Wenger will actually play the person he's buying. I said I feared due to Gibbs's "protected" status, that spending money on a new left back might long term prove to be a waste.......

A good buy is only a good buy if Wenger would actually play him, the game of having top notch players and not using them is now doing my head in completely. Arshavin was and still is an exceptional player, who Wenger decided he doesn't like, so doesn't play. Walcott can do nothing for 6 months and still get picked, Sagna has been terrible for 4 years yet still gets started ahead of anyone else. Young players, Jenks, Vela, Bendtner, Merida, Coquelin, Eisfeld, Yennaris, all being completely ignored except when there have been massive injury problems happening, and utterly disregarded when someone gets fit again(not matter how poor they are playing).

I have no faith in Wenger, no faith he'll play the people he buys and absolutely no faith he'll buy great youngsters with huge potential and actually give them real playing time to prove themselves.

So given that Wenger isn't going anywhere, there's basically no point you posting in this thread about Arsenal as your reaction to any given signing, at any given amount or any given experience level is going to be the above phrase just in 20 times as many words :p

Strikers Benteke + 1
Passers - Get Tom Carroll down the gym and get him playing.

Job done.....ish

I'm probably one of the few people who doesn't think Benteke is amazing. He screams Darren Bent to me.

I have seen him miss too many good chances because he lacks composure and just leathers the ball. No doubt I will be proven horrifically wrong but I will go out on a limb and say he is meh. I think Lukaku is better.

I think Carroll is immensely promising bit not ready to carry the first team's creativity for a campaign. He should be getting serious game time though.

that's a frightening prospect, do not want. We may as well play Welbeck at CM if he's that good (bad)...

Or look at it another way Strootman at 23yo is equal/ better to Barry at 32 yo

Either way one thing Utd DO need is a firm tackling CM/ box-to-box type with a lot of energy
