^Blame Wenger for thinking Liverpool would have given up the best striker in the PL. It looks like Giroud will do rather good and I have no idea how good Sanogo is.
You should be worried about Tottenham, they were strong and now they've got more signings and rumoured to be getting more players.

Regarding the Chelsea manager topic, AVB was their best manager since Jose.

Lots of new signings doesnt always work out well. Giroud looks good and I even said last year that he would up his game this year and still stick by that but if he is out it leaves us with very samey type players up front.

We can't rely on Sanogo being another Anelka at his age. It certainly would be nice but I would rather Wenger spent a little of his £77m.

I wouldn't rate Suarez as the best player in the prem either. I would rather have RVP back. Ratty is a good player but I wouldnt say the best.

Why do people keep going on about Suarez being the best striker in the PL!?

HE ISNT! RVP is. All the stats show this, so stop claiming Suarez is something he isn't*

To be honest I would rather like Bendtner to get a chance again.

People were going mad over Sessegnon 2 seasons ago but look how useful he was last year and where Sunderland were. Bendtner was nothing short of excellent all season for Sunderland, he was nothing short of brilliant in the Euro's, carrying an injury he was by far and away their most effective player scored and assisted in some great goals, did as well as anyone could have for Denmark.

Last season was a mess, but he had no preseason, joined a top team(that it should be noted were interested in Bendtner because of how well he'd been playing) with a huge amount of competition, took a couple months to get properly fit, started to get a little game time... got a season ending injury.

I doubt he'll have a good season this year either, he's still carrying the injury, still no where near being match fit, at best I think he'll be fit/injury free by Jan and looking for a move then after 18 months barely playing.

He was unlucky to get an injury last year as 23-25 is kind of the break out time for most players(like Bale currently, or Ronaldo, not saying he's that good but 23-25 is when most players make their mark). Only hope he chooses the right club when he moves and that Arsenal don't screw it up as I think he can be a pretty damn good striker somewhere if given the chance.

Factor in that as above the likes of Bale/Ronaldo generally got to play first team and 30+ games from 20-24 as they turn into top players, Bendtner hasn't had that opportunity at Arsenal yet the quality he showed in the last Euro's and what he managed to do with a truly woeful Sunderland team were very impressive for a guy who hasn't had a single full season since he left Birmingham.

Bendtner has had his chances regardless of the typical DM rant above. No one wants to buy him for a reason. He isn't good enough full stop. On top of that he's an idiot. If he didn't think he was the best player in the world he could have secured a transfer / loan to a few not so glamorous clubs instead of leaving it to the last day of the window to take whatever loan was still available.

Firstly lots of clubs have tried to sign him, Juve signed him on loan, Sunderland the year before and Arsenal have turned down multiple offers as they were too low over the past 3 years. The german club that had a deal almost done except it was financially unviable(despite all rumours saying Bendtner was happy to take the lower pay they were offering) which all points to Bendtner being the problem ;)

As for at Arsenal, he was one of the best players on the pitch in all his games against Barca, he works hard and performs well whenever he got the chance, he's never had a full season of appearances at Arsenal, if I'm wrong show me the season he got loads of games for Arsenal that I'm missing?

We've got the season he had 17 starts, 9 goals 2 assists in the league, the following year he had 19 starts(in all competitions) 12 goals 6 assists. THat is league 13 starts, 6 goals, 5 assists, champs league 5 starts, 5 goals, 1 assist. Horrible season, horrible. In that season he didn't start at all consistently (and was injured earlier in the season) until after Jan. After 2 games to get some form, starting the next 13 games he scored or assisted in 11 of them.

The year after that he got 3 league starts, 2 goals/1 assist, carling cup 4 games 3 goals, FAC 5 games 3 goals/4 assists, World cup 3 games 1 goal/1 assist, one other international.. 1 goal. He plays, he scores and assists, and he was used out of position frequently at Arsenal, at left and right wing(horrible on the left by and large, pretty damn good on the right). The only issue he had at Arsenal was not being used enough, his scoring and assisting record for the amount of minutes he played/starts he got has ALWAYS been exceptionally good for a 20-23year old player.

Anyone saying he's a bad player doesn't know football, it's also clear as day there IS interest and people do want him so saying otherwise makes you appear ignorant. Which of those seasons above did he do horribly in? Despite Wenger not using him in the league as much(plenty of short useless sub appearances but no run of games, almost no starts, 99% out of position that year) he still maintained scoring and assisting in ALL other games he played for Arsenal and Denmark in his best position.

Blah blah blah. He has turned down more than a couple of destinations he deemed below him. He missed an absolute sitter in the champs league vs Barca which would have knocked them out. Average the rest of the time. Stats which you say don't mean anything now do? Just watching him is enough to see he doesn't quite cut it, not a bad player but not Arsenal quality. I think almost everyone will agree he has never lived up to his own hype (although to be fair who could!). Bottom half of the prem quality player.

So apparently Suarez is staying cause of fans support and may even sign contract extension presumably with a proper release clause

Yeah, reported in the Echo with quotes from Uruguayan newspaper El Observador - strange how the team he really wanted to move to not coming in for him have "convinced" him to stay. Hopefully Madrid realise they need him and slap in 60 million in the January window.

i'm starting to get sick of this transfer window too. the lack of activity has led to 'journalists' rehashing rumours. according to today's daily star, bale has told his welsh teammates he will ''never play for spurs again''.

this was a little bit interesting though.

Tottenham have made Erik Lamela their top target to replace Gareth Bale - and may sign the Roma winger this summer even if the Welshman stays at White Hart Lane.

TOTTENHAM LATEST
1/2 Gareth Bale is 11/10 with Coral to stay at Tottenham this summer
Real Madrid want to sign Bale and are willing to offer a world record fee worth in the region of €100 million - but Spurs chairman Daniel Levy is still holding out for £116m despite the 24-year-old’s desire to move to the Santiago Bernabeu.

The Spanish giants remain confident of pushing through a deal for Bale before the transfer window closes and Tottenham have been lining up a number of potential recruits should the PFA player of the year leave the club.

As revealed by Goal, Villas-Boas wants to sign four more players with the cash from Bale’s potential departure - a centre-back, left-back, winger and striker.

Sources have told Goal that Lamela is the ‘absolute priority’ should Bale leave and was already at the very top of the wishlist of both manager Andre Villas-Boas and technical director Franco Baldini.

Baldini knows Lamela well from his time at Roma and the 21-year-old was a major point of discussion when the Italian met Walter Sabatini, the sporting director of Roma, in London earlier this month.

Spurs had already made an enquiry for the former River Plate man at the start of the summer and are now in dialogue with Roma over a transfer before the window closes at the start of next month.

Lamela is considered a creative, versatile matchwinner with sell-on value - despite the mooted €35-40m asking price - and the potential to improve into one of the best players in the world.

Before Real made their play for Bale, the Argentine was considered too expensive to sign this summer after scoring 15 goals in 33 Serie A matches last season.

But there is a chance he could play together with Bale this season given the inevitable prospect of the former Southampton man’s departure next summer, even if Spurs manage to hang on to him for one more year.

Other possible replacements for Bale include Russia-based Brazilians Hulk and Willian, with the €35-rated Anzhi attacker a long-term target and set for a summer transfer due to the club's financial problems.

Luis Suarez has also been considered as a potential recruit but the Uruguayan’s camp have made it clear that the Liverpool striker wants to play in the Champions League and is eyeing a move to either Arsenal or Real Madrid.

Spurs have invested heavily in the transfer market this summer as they target a top four finish, spending more than €58m on the arrivals of Roberto Soldado, Paulinho, Nacer Chadli and Etienne Capoue, whose €10m transfer from Toulouse is now a formality.

Daniel Levy, the Tottenham chairman, has been angered by Real Madrid’s attitude and the way Bale’s camp have pushed for a transfer this summer, but the club do not expect the player to kick up a fuss if he stays in north London.

Nevertheless, with Bale pushing for the transfer and Real keen to make the 24-year-old their marquee summer signing, Spurs are preparing for the Spaniards to meet their €116m asking price, most probably with the inclusion of players in exchange such as Fabio Coentrao and Alvaro Morata.

Spurs linked with £30m Willian

Can we say Bye Bye Bale yet?

Really feel for Rene Meulensteen, only lasted 16 days! And booted by clueless Moyles too.
