To play for one of the biggest clubs in the world, the money, the lifestyle, to become of the biggest transfers, world wide fame, to make his ego bigger, to play with one of the best players in the world, etc etc.

They are arguably just as well served elsewhere and Bale is 5 years younger than Ronaldo so would have had plenty of opportunity to sign for them later. I just can't see how this makes sense now. In a few years maybe but he will be number 2 and without his freedom at spurs he wouldn't look like half the player he does.

He could have a rubbish season next year and miss the opportunity, no one in the right mind would turn down RM.

Neymar?! :p

But I know what you mean. Teams like RM don't come knocking very often. You have to have a very serious alternative on the table to turn them down. With all due respect, I can't see how Spurs could provide that.

Don't get me wrong, I think Bale could have another fantastic year at Spurs if he stays. He's obviously settled, he plays the sort of role that suits his game and he clearly enjoys it all. But if a real big team were to come in for him, then I think it'd be very hard to turn down.

Sure he might not cope so well playing abroad, or he might not enjoy playing a different style, or position. But he'll never know unless he tests himself.

Damn it, I wanted Meulensteen to stay :(

lol do you even know what he did on a day to day basis?

I dont which is why I'm not really arsed, only thing I know Meulensteen for is being a huge transfer muppet and always talking to the press about potential targets.

A replacement for Carra - hopefully with 1 or possibly even 2 more CB's to come in of a higher standard.

Toure's not bad, even being a bit part player at City when he has come in he's never embarrassed himself. Good signing for Liverpool that imo

Seen before that Benitez might want get Skrtel for Napoli.

I'm not sure whether there's anything in that link, I think it's just journo's putting 2 and 2 together. I fully expect Skrtel to go though if a decent offer comes in.

I've never been a Toure fan. It always seemed like he was getting caught out and relying on his pace & power to recover. As he's getting older, that ability to recover is going to fall away.

I think you could do a lot worse than Kolo.

don't doubt that, but i would have thought they could have done better.

my main issue is them going back on there usual policy of transfer age, shows a lack of planning on there part to replace carragher, can say about the uncertainty with skertl forcing things, but again that goes back to them not controlling things.

I was unaware the transfer window was closed and we can't sign anyone younger also.
