Makes you wonder if the Utd hierarchy have concerns over Moyes' managerial ability in the period since he joined if they seemed to be going in with penny-pinching bids on the prospective targets - saving money for the new manager in January? :p

£42m is a lot but they could have got a lot better than Jagielka & Bent with it. Your aspirations aren't that high are they HangTime?

I chose those names because they were achievable. I'd prefer a better striker than Bent but most of my preferred targets (Falcao, Llorente, Cavani, Rooney etc) weren't straightforward. Jagielka I've wanted for a couple of years now and for me is one of the best CBs not at a champions league club and has lots of experience in the league.

Anyway it seems to me the Ozil deal was a case of Arsenal's desperation to appease the fans and having left it so late resulted in them paying over the odds. I don't have anything against the player but when you consider it is more money than we got for Fabregas, Henry, Vieira etc you have to raise your eyebrows, heck even with the Man City tax Aguero didn't cost that much! It's kinda like, if we are going to ***** £42.4m on one player today why couldn't we have bought a player for £20m last year and a player for £20m earlier in the summer.

My confidence in Wenger is starting to wane, but as always I'll review his position at the end of the season.

No doubt Real probably tried to offer all sorts of player + cash deals to Totenham but the lack of champions league cost you.

Aye, shame really. Never mind. As I say, just have to hope Eriksen comes good. I'm sure he will though. Holtby too.

QPR have signed Tom Carroll and Benoit Assout-Ekotto on loan.

Not happy about Tommy going, thought we'd get to see more of him this season but I suppose he's probably looking to take a leaf out of Townsend's book. Not sad about BAE though.

Not such a bad thing having 3 Germans in the squad...hopefully with Ozil now in the squad, Podolski will return with more fire in his belly.

Ozil is most likely to be playing at the expense of Podolski, so he's more likely to turn into Arshavin.. not played and won't care eventually.

This is the problem with Ozil, he's very good but to play him it will be Ozil INSTEAD OF Cazorla, or Ozil INSTEAD OF Podolski, two already very very good players.

If we got Baines INSTEAD OF Gibbs, thats a huge upgrade defensively, offensively and someone to take set pieces that aren't ****. If we brought A.N.RightBack to play INSTEAD of Sagna, a huge upgrade. If we got a DM so Wilshire(who can in a couple years be better than Cazorla or Ozil ever will be) can play further forward, that would be a huge improvement, not least because it will mean one of our currently frailest and best players wouldn't be in the enforcer role and would be less likely to be kicked to **** in every single game.

We've blown our load in the place with the least potential upgrade, with the most back up. Every transfer window the primary(and really only) goal is getting the best player in you can find for your weakest position(s) on the pitch... we've so utterly and miserably failed in that its laughable. We've also hurt our chances of being able to do so in the future by wasting such a huge sum of cash on the only position that didn't need improving. Sometimes your squad is so good you actually do go out and replace Overmars with Pires, that's fine, but Arsenal's squad isn't lacking in weaknesses.

We probably have keeper/fullbacks/right wing/striker/dm as the places that needed improving. As I said above, buying an actual DM would have freed Wilshire to play in the role he is actually world class in... instead we spent 42.5mil so Wilshire could continue as a DM, our crap fullbacks could continue being crap(and made of glass) and have zero back up in the striker position. While most likely simultaneously pushing Cazorla or Podolski to the bench.

I might shed a tear of joy if we see Walcott thrown on the bench and Ozil/Cazorla/Podolski start the majority of games, but does any Arsenal or non Arsenal fan think Wenger will drop Walcott?
