Summer Transfer Window 2017/18 - Rumours & Signings

I think we've dropped a proverbial, we have had 2 weak spots for 2 seasons, and we havent done anything to stregthen the keeping or CB position, i guess Klopp is thinking Ward and Gomez will come good, but we masivvly lack authority through the spine for now, i would have liked a commanding keeper or CB at the very least.

The defensive problems go back as far as Hodgson, the Konchesky signing and the end of the Hyypia era. That's 7 years ago.

The failure to do anything meaningful yet again will cost us any likelihood of progressing past the last 16 of the CL, and could easily cost a top 4 spot too. It just makes no sense financially or otherwise.

The team need the ability to defend set-pieces and eliminate some of the comical mistakes.

The squad now look so close to doing great things it's extremely frustrating. It's easy to get carried away with beating Arsenal 4-0, but we've looked like conceding in every game and have been very lucky not to have dropped more points.

Ive blanked the hodgson era from my memory banks, to be fair we are an overly attacking team so that does expose any defensive frailties, i still feel with a enforcer in the mould of Masch, we would do a lot better in defence.

I doesn't explain the problems we have with set pieces, crosses and general displays of ambisinister.

Quite happy with how it's gone today (assuming no more developments), shame we didn't have a saga of our own. :( We did our business efficiently and early, which is generally the best way to go about it, even if it's boring. :p

Arsenal still have Sanchez, who will likely go on a free and seems to be a massive sulk.

Liverpool didn't get VvD or Lemar, but kept Coutinho.

Man City didn't get Sanchez or Evans, certainly the former being good news.

Chelsea seem to be a total shambles, not sure what's going on there!

This is one of the things I mentioned somewhere else, and to my dad as we watched the game. Ox and Sanchez are probably off, you just brought in Kol on Ozil/Sanchez matching wages(which is just dumb in terms of wage structure and peeves off other players, I'd have preferred to buy him for 10mil in Jan than give him 3mil extra a year in wages for 4 years), but you play Ox and Sanchez and drop the one defender you brought in. He's a left back who likes to bomb forward so you start a RB at LWB and a crap footballer at RWB who can't defend to save his life.

It was absurd, it made no sense, it will never make sense. Lacazette was even worse, if you started Giroud because you thought Lacazette wasn't ready for such a game or was more suited to this game, stupid but at least that makes sense but he didn't start Lacazette because he wasn't adapted, but instead started Welbeck who is absolute **** 99.8% of the time he's on the pitch for us because he's just a bad football. So someone who might not play well and needs game time to adapt refused game time in favour of someone who would near certainly play woefully.

At some point the fans might band together to realise Wenger is and has been a joke of a manager for years now and we might just get in a half decent manager. I just hope it's before yet another round of contract renewals for the crap players that will be a weight around the neck of the next manager. Had ox not left, potentially 180k a week when back in the CL it sounds like was the offer.... for Ox, a guy who has 3-4 good games a season and is exceptionally limited.

Welbeck is another that should be sold. Not good enough for a top level club. Something LVG did get right.

Addressed **** all really for this season then. Highly exciting with Liverpool pretending we were going to spend crazy money though, would certainly be up for being led on again.

CB I agree but not the keeper. Mignolet has been very good for a long time now - people still judge him on 2 seasons ago.

There will be no Mascherano under Klopp. He wants a ball player sitting and then high energy, creative players ahead of them - it's the 2 more advanced players that do more defensive work than the sitting midfielder.

You didn't do your business though. Mourinho wanted a wide player and a LB but got neither. You've signed a CB that wouldn't even get into our back 4 and your 2nd choice DM and striker :p

Wouldn't be surprised if something was said at the Barkley medical, 'squad player', 'cover' or 'not first choice' or 'fall back option as we couldn't sign the players we wanted to'.
