Summer Transfer Window 2017/18 - Rumours & Signings

July 26th - "We have lost (Ramiro) Funes Mori to a knee injury and I am looking to replace him. We lost Romelu Lukaku and brought in Sandro Ramirez but we are trying to sign another striker and maybe one more."

August 3rd - "We need two more front players"

August 11th - "But still now we really have one striker, in my opinion ... “But compare that to the big teams and what they have on the bench or even in the stands and it is a big difference to Everton."

August 16th - "We still need to sign a striker."

August 21st - "We are looking for a left-footed central defender, maybe as back-up for Leighton Baines ... Also a striker because I think even with the talent of Dominic and Ramirez, look to other squads. They have that number of players. If we need to make the next step we need a striker in as well."

August 26th - "We need at least two more players to get numbers in, but the most important thing is to get a striker in,"

August 27th - "We need at least two more players ... We need to get numbers in ... Everyone knows, the board knows the importance of those two signings."

I hope Ronald walks away from this shambles. He will be absolutely fuming, I hope he hasn't had a drink tonight.

Get that completely useless waste of money Steve Walsh straight into the bin. What a terrible appointment.

Farhad Moshiri please stop chatting wham to Jim White and just get on with building a competitive football club, clear out the board room and sort yourself out.

I read a few days ago that he's a complete nightmare. He didn't turn up to training at City most of this month and frequently didn't offer any explanation as to why he was absent. Plus he has moved to Dortmund because he was unhappy, at age 17, that he hadn't had a first team opportunity at City

So with all the extra TV money floating about and record amounts being spent by seemingly everybody, has any side ended the window completely satisfied with their work?

I think PSG must be pretty happy and Monaco to. Okay they've been taken to pieces but also been paid absolutely silly money for multiple players, with who PSG were buying without Mbappe, the chances of Monaco beating them in the league anyway was likely pretty low, so they've made a mint and set the team up for a very long time financially. They also set themselves up as Arsenal used to be, the go to destination for up and coming players where people trust the coaching and trust the club to give the best younger players a chance early and make a name for themselves. They'll have no trouble signing 10 more potential Mbappe's who all believe Monaco might be their best chance to make it. Whoever is scouting there is also doing a fantastic job, their coaching work is fantastic and whoever is making their deals is doing a great job.

Everyone else.... not so much, not overall. Actually Utd I guess, Lukaku and Matic were just what they needed really and addressed their biggest weaknesses.

City left seething at Arsenal over Sanchez lol

Poor little rich kids didn't get what they arrogantly demanded, almost worth losing £60m for.
Had they offered £70-80mill I imagine Sanchez would be there now.

But they didn't so City and their fans can go do one:p

Tbf, I think Liverpool deserve an assist in this. Arsenal agreed to sell Sanchez believing they could sign Lemar but when Lemar realised Liverpool were in for him, he couldn't face the prospect of playing for Arsenal. The result was Lemar to Arsenal didn't happen and Sanchez to City was therefore off. Great sabotage by Liverpool.

Unconfirmed but I heard that Barkley pulled out of the Chelsea deal hoping Liverpool would come in for him in January. It's all part of FSG's game - use the lure of a hug from Klopp to stop your opposition signing players so that you don't need to either.

The Spurs / Aurier transfer reminds me a little of Ravel Morrison, who was meant to be a fantastic player (for his age at least) when SAF was around but a really bad element off the field - cant recall exactly how many transfers he has had since leaving Utd but must be 1/2 dozen at least, and in the last few days moved from Lazio to a small mexican team

Very gutted that we had no plan B to VvD. A good CB was, imo, the number one priority for transfers and nothing came of it. I'm pretty certain that will come back to haunt us this season. Theres always the January window I suppose.

Barkley's ****ed Everton over going by what Moshiri's saying on SSN. He changed his mind over the move and will reassess his future in January. Given that he's out injured for the next 3 months(?) and isn't likely to feature much before January, he's going to sit tight, Everton will be forced to accept an even smaller fee and he'll get paid even more himself.
.

Yeah they played that well. May as well accept he's going for free, keep him in Jan and not play him all year. TBH I don't even care, he will be at sunderland soon enough.

All things considered it hasn't been a bad window for us as we've now got cover in all the positions we needed.
Morata & Rudiger have looked good so far and Bakayoko comes highly rated, you know what you'll get from Drinkwater so we can give Kante the odd game off and Zappacosta doesn't look too bad either so that's the RWB issue sorted too :)

With Wolves moving on 3 strikers and the collapse of the Locadia transfer we're now left with 1 unproven striker.

I hope I'm wrong but I think we have blown any chance of going up now

No, arsenal fan here and I'm disappointed the Sanchez situation is a weird one as in it should have been dealt with early, we actually was in for Lemar and at that point we would have got him. Our midfield needed the extra man there seen as we miss cazorla and in defence We play three at the back and he sells Gabriel and mustafi almost went!

Madness but without a David dein figure this is the norm I just hope we go back to a back four now and throw the extra body in midfield as it needs it.
