Summer Transfer Window 2017/18 - Rumours & Signings

Arsenal to be linked to everybody, rumours of a £300m "war chest" before eventually signing a young Japanese kid who will immediately go out on loan, and a back up goal keeper on the last day of the season.

That's Arsenals summer for you gents, you can ignore any other Arsenal transfer rumours.

No. Wenger will say... Look why do we need to sign anyone when we've already got Cech, Giroud, Walcott, Sanchez, Ozil, Xhaka, Ramsey the Ox etc.... we already have a squad good enough the win the league.

More accurately when the fans 'demand' a better left back, a top CB, an actually competent DM and a top notch striker Wenger will say hey, Coquelin is worth 30mil, we just spent 35mil on Xhaka, we have Giroud, Walcott, Welbeck and Sanchez for upfront and we got Mert to come back to bolster the defence, these are world class players and the fans are stupid, they just want to spend money for the sake of it.

Then in Jan, after we're 15 points off the top, he'll bemoan a lack of a competent DM, a world class striker and another good CB and just forget he called fans idiots for wanting such players. Wenger of the short memory, whatever was the weakest during the current season will be forgotten by the start of next season.

Exactly. Same thing year after year.

The Sun credit the Telegraph article here, which states (in its entirety) the following:

The Telegraph said:
If United bring Keane back, he would become the second academy graduate re-signed by the club in 12 months following midfielder Paul Pogba’s £89 million world record return last summer, four years after leaving for Juventus. Mourinho is thought to have explored the possibility of re-signing Javier Hernandez, the Mexico striker sold to Bayer Leverkusen by Van Gaal for £7.3 million in 2015.

That's it. That is the Sun's source. Less than nothing.

If United do let DDG go, and to be honest he deserves it f he wants it, it's made for Kasper Schmeichel to be our next keeper.

edit:

Flipping nora, I thought he was a few years younger than 30yo mind!

Yeah I couldn't believe it when I saw he was 30, but then he has done the rounds I suppose.

I don't think he's good enough...although I remember saying that about VDS before he signed :X

Hardest part of the game though to be fair, anticipating crosses, where to be, when to come, punch or catch

latest gk tip is Pickford it seems (either Liverpool, Utd, Chelsea, etc ) depending on which "rag" you read

Schmeichel or Pickford appear at present to cost about the same ~£25-30m , or Oblak for "release clause" of £85m ish (not convinced the latter will happen even without Utd targetting AG already, let alone for anything like that kind of money)

Romero has been good (and a few rumours floating around he is looking for 1st choice position) , but not good enough to start next season as No 1

No you don't.
You must have missed the sarcasm in his post lol.

We have a good enough squad but not good enough to win the league just yet. Also our beloved manager isn't good enough to win us a title anytime soon. And our performances and tactics come from him;).

I like that Koeman has given Barkley a week to sign or get the **** out. I honestly can't see anyone offering anything like the money he must think he's worth. I don't think he's input into the side will be hard to replace and I'd snap the hands off anyone willing to pay more than 30m for him as has been touted.

he wont go abroad, so its the EPL or nothing - and with the ££ being so insane I wouldn't be surprised if £30-40m offers come in for him

Some games he can be unplayable, others he is completely invisible so for a big team to get a british player in (depending on wages) - that amount of money even if it doesn't allow for add-ins, isn't insurmountable

Any player can be unplayable...ive seen James Mcclean tear teams apart but he isnt consistent so isnt woeth a lot. Same with Barkley...he puts in a worldy like one in 10, the idea that he would command 35 mil is a bit crazy for me.

Barkley is coming to his last year...i cant see him going for more then 20mil myself.

Definite mistake. Much as I loved Chicharito he wasn't really good enough to be a regular at United. Re-signing would only be as cover for a bigger name.
