Summer Transfer Window 2017/18 - Rumours & Signings

City don't think about money at any point I suspect, walker isn't terrible far worse players plus I don't get why walker has moved clubs really, spurs are doing good and team is over all more balanced city needs a rebuild

City needs to think about money though right? I thought that they could be affected by FFP?

Actually think its a shame about Lucas going, but I can understand that he probably wants guaranteed gametime. Lucas was never brilliant, never a great player but he was always willing, always happy to play in whatever position was needed. Sometimes I think its actually good to have players like that in a squad, someone who maybe wont light things up but who you can rely on to come in and fill any position needed without quibble. Wish him the best in the twilight of his career.

Crazy to think in this day and age that Stones + Walker is 100m

They did let few players go so there wages will be off books so may help? Or they will ignore it and buy 6 players and take a ban, I don't think the bigger clubs give a toss about ffp

Well since baz has told me I have to call Twitter by its correct name I will do :p it's going abit nuts saying we out a bid in for dijk at 60m.

I doubt we have I think just random people sturring it up due to keita stuff.

Dijk chance has gone

Nah, it's back on, I bet it's just being kept low key.

Just Danny Murphy needs to shut his mouth lol

I'll find a way to manage.

The Guardian are reporting that we're close to agreeing a deal with Hull for Robertson. That deal has reportedly been all but agreed since March - the fact that it's taken so long to tie up makes me think the deal was dependent on other transfers. That could be as simple as whether other LB's were attainable but could also be linked to how much we spend on other areas - for example, if we missed out on Keita and signed a cheaper midfielder, we might then target a better/more expensive LB.

Us signing Robertson reminds me so much of when we signed Clyne. Very solid, won't pull up trees but good defensively and has a high ish ceiling. That fact he is costing less then 10 Mil and Kyle Walker is 50 plus is insane.

£60m for Dijk seemed expensive but compared to Walker it's a bargain lol

I think the major difference would be need to cost ratio. Anything in life costs more if you desperately need it, basic supply and demand. Liverpool desperately need a good defender, its absolutely vital, so for us 60m on Dijk would be fulfilling that desperate need.

City didnt desperately need Walker, so for them to whack down 55m for him doesnt represent terribly good value (imo at least).

He's a much better footballer than Walker. Less physical and fast, but much better on the ball and a clever player

He has a really good cross on him, I don't think he's good enough to be a regular starter, I saw a few games where he was struggling to control long balls to him. Spurs will definitely have to get a decent replacement for Walker.

Well, they desperately needed a RB. They released Zab/Sagna/Navas.

Yeah, I guess what I mean is that their defence wasnt a shambles. They werent really in a position where they had to spend 55m on a defender or they would leak goals like mad. Liverpool have 1 semi decent on his day CB (matip) , no proper LB and a defence which was so leaky last season that everyone on the planet knew it. Their need to pay anything at all to address their single biggest weakness is higher.

Hell, Liverpools need is so dire that we've had to play Kevin Stewart (another midfielder) as a centre back in the 2nd half against Wigan today
