And attacking players are typically more expensive anyway.
Yup, all fair points! 30 plus for Sarr seems a lot to me, but then I'm sure people had the same concern with Mane and Salah...
Another thing I forgot to add with Werner was that he was only available at £50m odd because of a release clause meaning the full fee had to be paid up front, which isn't typically the case with transfers. For example, we're reportedly signing Thiago with just £5m of the £20m guaranteed up front.
I like Sarr. He's got something about him that makes me think he could explode into another Mane fairly quickly.
Salah and Mane were expensive for the time but they were proven players. Sarrs price is crazy considering the little play time he has actually had. He is also 22 which is still young but when you look at how much the likes of TAA and Rashford have played at that age. He is also playing for a Championship club now so they can hardly set those demands. It seems massively overpriced.
I'm sure if you go and look at the threads from the summer we signed Mane and then Salah, there were very few shouts saying they were proven. In fact I'm sure you'll find people saying the fee for Mane was crazy and comparing him, unfavourably, to Utd signing Mkhitaryan.
As for Sarr's fee, you have to remember that he was a £30m odd player when Watford signed him and all in all, he done well for them. He maybe didn't show the consistency you'd hope for but he showed in moments and individual games the ceiling he has. As above, his performances remind me quite a bit of Mane at Southampton. He was very hit and miss but when he was on it, he caused the best sides in the League all sorts of problem.
£35-40m for him wouldn't be cheap but I'm not sure it's expensive when the going rate for unspectacular players in the French and Dutch Leagues are £30-50m.
....If the league was so strong you would have 100 point winners at the end of it.
Huh
Why would a strong League mean a higher points total for the winner? The winning points total is determined by one thing, the strength of the winners compared to the rest of the League. In the last few seasons the best sides have been significantly better than the rest - that doesn't tell you how good (or bad) the rest are compared to another League though. Had the other sides been better then the points totals would have been lower
