He's also playing in a league they couldn't even be arsed finishing its that insignificant. What level is the dutch league? League 1?

8 games in the champions league is hardly proven is it.

As for 12 caps...Sarr has 27 caps and played in an international final.

You cannot seriously compare Senegal to Holland. Likewise Euro to Africa is silly to compare. Also are you seriously saying that Watford are a better team than Ajax?

No, Ajax are obviously superior....kinda proves my point doesn't it. He plays a game where he will 9 time out of 10 stroll to victory. Ajax and few others aside the league is complete garbage. Sarrs playing a team with Hughes and Deeney getting pumped everyweek (Liverpool aside lol).

The idea that VDB signs for £39mil (transfrmarkt) and is sign as a "fantastic" sign yet Sarr, who is younger, cheaper, has PL experience, more international experience is some how overpriced is laughable.

And attacking players are typically more expensive anyway.
Yup, all fair points! 30 plus for Sarr seems a lot to me, but then I'm sure people had the same concern with Mane and Salah...
Another thing I forgot to add with Werner was that he was only available at £50m odd because of a release clause meaning the full fee had to be paid up front, which isn't typically the case with transfers. For example, we're reportedly signing Thiago with just £5m of the £20m guaranteed up front.

I like Sarr. He's got something about him that makes me think he could explode into another Mane fairly quickly.
Salah and Mane were expensive for the time but they were proven players. Sarrs price is crazy considering the little play time he has actually had. He is also 22 which is still young but when you look at how much the likes of TAA and Rashford have played at that age. He is also playing for a Championship club now so they can hardly set those demands. It seems massively overpriced.
I'm sure if you go and look at the threads from the summer we signed Mane and then Salah, there were very few shouts saying they were proven. In fact I'm sure you'll find people saying the fee for Mane was crazy and comparing him, unfavourably, to Utd signing Mkhitaryan.

As for Sarr's fee, you have to remember that he was a £30m odd player when Watford signed him and all in all, he done well for them. He maybe didn't show the consistency you'd hope for but he showed in moments and individual games the ceiling he has. As above, his performances remind me quite a bit of Mane at Southampton. He was very hit and miss but when he was on it, he caused the best sides in the League all sorts of problem.

£35-40m for him wouldn't be cheap but I'm not sure it's expensive when the going rate for unspectacular players in the French and Dutch Leagues are £30-50m.
....If the league was so strong you would have 100 point winners at the end of it.
Huh

Why would a strong League mean a higher points total for the winner? The winning points total is determined by one thing, the strength of the winners compared to the rest of the League. In the last few seasons the best sides have been significantly better than the rest - that doesn't tell you how good (or bad) the rest are compared to another League though. Had the other sides been better then the points totals would have been lower

I always thought the premier league was much stronger in the 00's than it is now. You always had a 4 way battle most seasons. Now it is just two. Also look at the champions league you had 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009 all English teams in the finals.

I think Thiago and Sarr would just freshen up Liverpool enough to keep them going strong. Good business.

We on the other hand are just sat hoping Dortmund will agree to sell Sancho before deadline day. We’ll go backwards if not.

you were already. Fernandes an was inspired purchase and has helped steady the ship. If you can keep the momentum from the end of last season you'll be ok. What will be interesting is to see whether De Gea ups his game or disappears behind Henderson.

The Sancho business is just doing my head in now

We are just a slightly more rich version of Mike Ashley and Newcastle. We will never get back to the top whilst the Glazers are there. Yes we spent a lot in recent years but that's only because of rainy day money saved in Fergies last 5 years. We don't have capital to do it forever.

We only got lucky with DVDB because VDS is there and a club legend. If it was any other club we would have got rinsed for him too.

Gareth Bale arrives at Tottenham Hotspurs training ground this morning - a loan deal being thrashed out with Real. :)

another ibrahimovic moment? Old. Capable of genius, but arriving too late to set the league alight for any significant amount of time?

He's not that old, 31 I think? Providing he can get up to match fitness quickly I can't see why he won't be able to play a lot of games.

Had all English finals in the CL and Europa two years ago.

I think the league was more competitive ten years ago, but with a couple of exceptions (Arsenal's invincibles, United's treble winners and arguably United circa 2008) City and Liverpool have been the best teams the PL has seen.

You have to look at where Spurs are as a club. They just managed to get through to the 3rd (?) qualifying stage of the Europa. Bale is a bloody good signing for them

Hoever to Wolves for £10m? I didn't see that one coming. Hopefully, like the Brewster rumours, we'll have a buyback clause in that deal because he's a talented kid.

It's obviously not the ideal scenario but given the circumstances it's quite clever business to cash in on some youngsters who are on the borderline of being good enough to make it with you. If they don't kick on then we've got some decent fees for kids that have barely kicked a ball for us and if they do progress then I'm sure we won't mind buying them back for 50% more than we sold them for. It's basically a finance deal with the option of not paying the money back if you don't want to but hefty interest if you do.

edit: and now all the Liverpool press are saying we're intersted in Jota from Wolves, along with Sarr, but Jota's 1st choice.

Sounds like some sort of Hoever <> Jota deal done maybe then. I liked Hoever but to be fair to him, it was always going to be really tough for him to break through to the first squad, especially with the likes of TAA, Neco and Gomez ahead of him. Would be happy with Jota though, especially if its cheap, Jota is pretty good, 1 in 3 goal ratio for Wolves, certainly a better backup option than Origi.

******* hell our kit is rancid and thats without seeing the white stripe on the side

I dont mind it but then again I've always preferred the away kits as the home kits are much of a muchness year after year, the one thing that I dont like about the new home kit though, is the collar on the back, its the same "near-V" shape as on the front, which sort of makes it look like the shirt is on backwards :D
