I don't understand why clubs haven't clocked onto Benfica's stat doping programme.

There are loads of articles on how Benfica has one of the most advanced data analytics teams in football and that they coach players to improve their stats rather than their game impact. On paper these players look like world beaters but once bought for sky high prices they look distinctly average e.g. lindeloff, gedson, jovic etc

My guess is that City are about to get burnt on the same basis if they get Dias
 
Very early to say Felix has been a success...didnt set anything alight last season. Bernardo Silva has an excellent first season and disappeared last.

65 MILLION for a lad who hasnt played in a top 5 league is just silly money.

ah but does he play proper football? Not that nasty kind of outplaying the opposition and scoring more goals than them kind, no, I mean that other man-city definition of football.
 
Seems like our current transfer status is:

Sancho, offering around €100m, doesn't sound like Dortmund will sell but you never know
Failing Sancho, a loan for Ousmane Dembele
Trying to get Alex Telles on the cheap from Porto
Looking at maybe Cavani or Jovic as another striker option

We need some of these to happen... all very 'meh' so far.
 
I think Telles will end up happening. Don't think there is anything in the Dembele or Cavani/Jovic rumours. Sancho is incredibly unlikely at this point. We're still kind of/sort of linked with Sarr from Watford too, not sure if anything will happen with that.
 
Not a centre back in sight either. Frickin’ ridiculous.
I hope Dembele isn’t true, he’s an injury prone nightmare with a bad attitude from what I’ve read since he made his move from Dortmund.

As has been stated in a few places, we’re useless at transfers these days. It was painful enough with the pogba saga years ago. Every year seems the same now.
We’ll end up only with Telles and VDB.

Of course, but it’s where we need the most. The numbers hide the fact we were just lucky defensively last season having watched the comedy act in the majority of games.
I’d prefer Smalling over Maguire, and partnered with Bailly. If only he’d stay fit.
