Summer Transfer Window 2021/2022

Some clubs like to buy young players and then coach them to greatness. Liverpool have been quite good at this with some of their players and I'm expecting great things of Konaté once he's used to the pace of the league. Of course Liverpool do sometimes buy as well, VVD, Mané, Allisson etc. but then you have Trent and Jones coming through the ranks, Robbo has improved vastly since he signed as well. United have some history with younger players too it's true, but there seems to be more of an attitude of buy first.

You realise we have one of the best records with academy players amongst top teams in the world?

I really don’t think Messi will come to England. He’s 34 now and I think will struggle badly in the premier league. Certainly wouldn’t be half the player he is for Barca.

He’s much more likely to take a big payday at PSG or even nip across the states to the MLS. Has the sniff of an Inter Miami signing to me.

I mean, as a rich man, where would you rather live, Manchester, Paris or Miami?

It's being reported tonight that Everton are trying to muscle in on Arsenal's attempts to sign Ben White. If Arsenal lose out to Everton, having lost Buendia to Villa then they can forget about any invites to future European Super Leagues.

Can Everton seriously afford £50m+ on a defender?

I was listening to Talk Sport yesterday, who mentioned this list of highest net spenders in the Prem over the last few years

£50m should be easy for Everton ;)

Net Spend last 5 Years
1 Manchester City £818.5M
2 Manchester United £611.1M
3 Chelsea £656.9M
4 Everton £536.5M
5 Arsenal £443.1M

Just a casual look shows the most they've ever spent on a defender is 27m on Mina, I'd just be surprised if they doubled that.

All adds up when you look back, some are quite surprising as some have already left on a free

Richarlison £35.28m
Alex Iwobi £27.36m
Yerry Mina £27.23m
Jordan Pickford £25.65m
Michael Keane £25.65m
Moise Kean £24.75m
Ben Godfrey £24.75m
Davy Klaassen £24.30m
