Summer Transfer Window 2021/2022

Onyeka and Ajer through the door this week at Brentford. Decent couple of signings. Now just a right back, back-up left back, a wide forward (or two) and an attacking midfielder to buy...

Great shame about Josh Dasilve being out of the season - would have been great to see him in the Premier League... particualrly as our first game is against Arsenal!

I think they're meaning you can't afford him in that, other clubs out there will just offer more money in both wages/bonus and transfer fee than what Liverpool would be willing to do.
If and when Mbappe leaves he will choose where he goes so there will be no auction. As for wages, who will pay more? Our wage bill is broadly the same as Utd's and City's, only really behind Real and Barca's, both of which are broke.

As I said, any one of the top half a dozen clubs could and would pay what it took to sign Mbappe if he signalled he wanted to join them. Financially it's a no brainer, even if you end up paying him £400k per week.

I feel really sorry for Ben White if he goes to Arsenal and finds out Ramsdale is behind him. Did Arsenal watch him last season? Calamity.

Arsenal who originally had Martinez on their list but let him go to Villa? (and who just won the CA with Argentina and saved 2 pens etc?) Are they still wanting a no2 keeper behind Bernd "Jay" Leno? Not sure it's a great move for Ramsdale either tbh if that's the plan. Will it help his progression?

Whilst I don’t really understand why Arsenal want him as I don’t think he’s better than Leno, or not much better if he is - You’re being massively unfair on Ramsdale. Seems you’re judging him on his first 10 or so games which were bad, but once he learned that the defence in front of him were essentially useless, he became our best player by a considerable margin. Most games were kept low scoring due to him.

There are loads of great shot stoppers though, his commandment of the area was terrible, he will be expected to do a lot more than that Arsenal, did his distribution ever even get tested at Sheff U or was it just hoofing it up to the big lads up front? Arsenal play it out of the back so it seems a massive risk to me.

Really don’t know what to think about the possibility of Henderson signing for us. Good player but he’s 31 now, and isn’t he quite injury prone?

Once his dodgy spell was over, his commanding of the box was no worse than Dean Henderson the season before - Just that our overall defending/play was much, much worse. It says something that he was both our player of the year and young player of the year. I just think you're being unfair on him, when he was/is actually a very good goalkeeper, that was let down by pretty much everything in front of him.

With regards to his footwork, I have no idea. He wasn't usually the one hoofing it, but we certainly didn't play out from the back like Arsenal want to either - Like I said, I don't understand at all why they're after him, I just think he's a much better goalkeeper than people are giving him credit for.

Didn’t you know it’s standard practice on here to hate on anyone who might sign for Arsenal.

Oh yeah, Bielsa tried everything to sign him didn’t he?

Got to 30m but at the time unproven in the PL so understandable. Then we got a German international and Raphinha for 30m so all was well, would still have him in a heart beat, suits our style massively.

Jordan Henderson? He'd be an excellent signing for Arsenal...exactly what you need. Got injured last season but i wouldnt call him injury prone either. I dont think he would leave nor will we sell him. Too important.

Its nonsense paper talk.
It's not just paper talk, the news has clearly been leaked from Henderson's end to get him a new long term contract while his stock is still high. Unfortunately for him, the club hold all the cards with him having 2 years to run on a contract, which he'll be 33 by the end of. It makes no sense for the club to commit to a deal that takes him to 34 or 35 right now. Unless they agree on a heavily incentivised deal or some sort of extension that's triggered if he plays x amount of matches then the club will be in no hurry to offer him an extension. That's not to say that they won't but that they'll wait until he's nearer the end of his existing deal, giving them a better idea of what he's capable of post 33.
