Summer Transfer Window 22/23

Ahh well looks like no new signings for the Toon.

Pope, Targett, Botman and Isak is a pretty impressive window.

Can't wait to see everyone fit and healthy on the pitch.

Melo done then. Its a midfielder at least.

Rumours we are trying to get Caicedo as well not sure about that one though not enough time i would have thought.

Have to say, Chelsea have spent a huge amount of money and I wouldn't say they have really strengthened much. Sterling was a decent buy but outside of that I'm not convinced. Aubamayang could be useful...if he can be bothered.
Yes it is remarkable. I think their squad was stronger this time last year.

Don't understand villas stance on Luiz

He's not been featuring under gerrard and is into last year of his contract, but you reject all the bids for him

Hope he signs a pre agreement with someone in jan will serve them right

Here's hoping Arthur can be a useful player for us. He's clearly got something about him and all the talk re his time at Juve is that he suffered as a result of injuries but also he was a bit of collateral damage from Sarri's sacking. The statto's say he's identical to Thiago in terms of his style of play so he clearly fits into how we play - if all we get is an understudy and cover for Thiago then that'll do me.

And Gerrard seemed to be hinting that he'd be sold today too. Not the best sign for Gerrard about his own future.

Garner to Everton confirmed.
I'm pleased for the lad and I hope he does well. He clearly wants to start matches rather than sit on the bench. I'm not sure where is level is but he's too good not to get a chance in the Premier League.

Sounds like Brighton have got Gilmour for £9-10mil, just have to wait for the announcement that it went through in time.

Imagine there will be a buyback clause in that contract

Matty Longstaff gone on loan to Colchester. He stalled on a new contract two years back as there was apparent interest from Inter Milan. Newcastle's academy churning out world-beaters as per.

The Leicester chairman has outlined the strategy behind the difficult transfer window in tonight's programme notes - can't fault his explanation really, also reaffirms his long-term commitment to the club.
He's essentially saying FFP's the issue but I'm struggling to see how that is the case. I've just taken a look and Leicester's combined loss for the 19/20 and 20/21 season is around £90m but that's before you take into account allowable expenses (investment in youth teams, women's football etc) and also before covid adjustments. Once you take those into account you've broken even or possibly in profit and you're allowed losses of approx £100m. Last season's accounts aren't out yet but I can't imagine any loss significant enough to make FFP an issue.

The above is just accounting profits and losses but in actual cash terms Leicester are losing a lot of money and have relied on loans from your owners. As of the last set of accounts they'd loaned the club close to £250m. I suspect it's the owners unwillingness (or ability) to keep funding these losses that's the real issue, particularly with more investment needed for the stadium expansion.

Auba to Chelsea confirmed, it's going to feel strange having him back at a rival team so soon after he left, you could argue it's also a bit of a kick in the teeth to have him leave on a free transfer and then be sold on for an 8-digit fee the same year, but I guess wages play a bit of a factor there i.e.
