Summer Transfer Window 23/24

Saudis aren't messing around are they

Writing it off as simple sports-washing is brushing over the big picture, that this is all part of their transition to a post-oil economy, and they are going big. Makes you despair a little at the lack of long-term ambition from our politicians.

Ours are in it for themselves which is a real eye opener when your start to travel around the world and see the difference in public transport, schools, hospitals etc

We can’t even pay our junior doctors, crazy when you think how important they are.

Back to football - jeez that a ¼ of a billion for a footballer. That is absolutely mental.

That would be the strangest reason a transfer has collapsed ever. No "dangerous" dogs are allowed :

Why do you think the West and China are pushing the agenda of EV's etc. The west is frightened of these oil states becoming new superpowers.

I think you might be overegging this a little. At the rate they are splashing the cash they will have to spend a few hundred billion before they come close to denting the big European leagues and don't think for a second that those money grabbing ***** in charge of FIFA and UEFA would go out without a fight.

Most football clubs don't make any money as far as I can tell so I don't think that trying to take over football is exactly something to pin your future economy on...

There's also no history, no aura, no memories. Lots of people won't watch because it's Saudi etc.

That's why they keep buying teams across the world as well.

They could always buy FIFA and UEFA I guess.
