Sunbeds!

You're a man, why the hell would you go on a sunbed? Why do you want a tan? MEGA GAY TBH.

im a skinny dweeb, i lack confidence anyway, so looking skinny AND pasty all the time isnt doing me any favours.

a bit of colour/tan makes me feel a bit better :P

Good for you man.

This is the last forum i'd ask for advice on regarding appearance... You're a homo on here if you don't do you own hair with a pair of clippers number 1 all over. Or spend more than £40 on jeans. Etc...

I kinda played with the idea of going for a sunbed maybe even just once a week... something to do with my excema :) Id still do it i guess, bit of colour, build up skin and all that...! But lack of funds and time makes that a wee bit hard :(

I really like the smell! :D lol

haha, i went on today as iv got block booking minutes left from 2years ago, going to use em up this week before i hit up london for the weekend, going to try and get into some naive rich daddys girl you see ;)

Where is your proof or backing for that?

Wiki

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sun_tan

It is a reaction of the body to photodamage from UVB.[2] This melanogenesis is triggered by the same DNA damage that causes sunburn.

Also

UVB
  • triggers the formation of CPD-DNA damage (direct DNA damage) which in turn induces an increased melanin production[2]
  • is thought to cause the formation of moles and some types of skin cancer (but not melanoma)
UVA
  • seems to cause cancer less than UVB, but causes melanoma, a far more dangerous type of skin cancer than other types

But it's gay...and it looks gay. Why would looking GAY make you feel better? GAY.

looking like you spend everyday sat in your bedroom/basement/office on the computer out of the sun is more of a gay look, since its going to get you a lot less ladies.

Maybes you're GAY!

Nice selective quoting. If you include the paragraph in the article that you excluded...

Darkening of the skin is caused by an increased release of the pigment melanin into the skin's cells after exposure to ultraviolet radiation. Melanin is produced by cells called melanocytes and protects the body from direct and indirect DNA damage absorbing an excess of solar radiation, which can be harmful.

The skin produces vitamin D in response to sun exposure (in particular, UVB waves in the 285nm to 287nm range), which can be a health benefit for those with vitamin D deficiency. In 2002, Dr. William B. Grant published an article claiming that 23,800 premature deaths occur in the US annually from cancer due to insufficient UVB exposures (apparently via vitamin D deficiency).[4] This is higher than 8,800 deaths occurred from melanoma or squamous cell carcinoma. This does not mean that sun tanning is categorically safe or beneficial. Spending several minutes in the sun is long enough to obtain your daily dose of vitamin D. Another research[5][6] estimates that 50,000–63,000 individuals in the United States and 19,000 - 25,000 in the UK die prematurely from cancer annually due to insufficient vitamin D.

Another effect of vitamin D deficiency is osteomalacia, which can result in bone pain, difficulty in weight bearing and sometimes fractures. This work has been updated in Grant et al. 2005[7] and Grant and Garland, 2006[8] In addition, it was reported that in Spain, risk of non-melanoma skin cancer is balanced by reduced risk of 16 types of cancer [Grant, 2006][9]

According to research conducted in 2007 by Cozen, Gauderman, Islam, and Mack [10] [11], sun exposure during childhood prevents multiple sclerosis later in life.

Ultraviolet radiation has other medical applications, in the treatment of skin conditions such as psoriasis and vitiligo. Sunshine is informally used as a short term way to treat or hide acne, but research shows that in the long term, acne worsens with sunlight exposure and safer treatments now exist (see phototherapy).

At the end of the day being out in the sun a bit is better for you in several ways than not being out in the sun. With the weather as it is, there's no reason to begrudge someone getting their UV rays via alternative means - as long as it's not abused. If you go red, you're doing something wrong, and that's where you'll end up with cancer or wrinkled skin later in life.

Not getting ladies != gay, but anyway why would ladies be attracted to someone who looks gay. That's gay logic. You're gay. GAY.

Hah, brilliant post. Basically its bad as said, but its the lesser of 2 evils.

MEGA ALPHA HI-5 YO!

Dont jinx me, iv got to find some rich tart first ;)

I cant believe how baked ive been today.

If i want cancer ive gone the right way about it !

the sunbed looked like it had never been on all day, so i assumed it wouldnt be as warm too.

just slapped a bit more aftersun on before i go to bed hahaha, i bet im shedding skin tomorrow :D

Nevermind eh!, even though im pretty red i reckon my body looks a bit better in the mirror as it shadows more and looks more toned :D ( GAY! )

this logic only works if youre attracting a certain type of lady, probably the ones that play WoW themselves.

any attractive women, who pretty much all use sunbeds, find tans attractive. i never usually have trouble getting ladies with a bit of chat and some jokes, but i have to approach them. when i went and got a spray tan the girls came to me, made it much easier, so tanning is infact anti-gay.
id never use sunbeds though as im too pasty and have too many moles on my back.
