Sad news :(

Wondered if something was up last year though. When I was after my yamaha amp, I emailed them about it as they had the best price. Got no response from them at all.

So I bought it from richer sounds (they price matched superfi) instead.

That came out the blue!

not really - all stores are struggling that don't make their own products and aren't a household name.

the high street is dead. i went to a shop the other day where there was literally no staff due to cutbacks took us 5 minutes to find someone and they were busy dealing with someone else.

if it's not something young people with no concept of money buy then they aren't doing well. so specialist AV equipment isn't high up on a lot of peoples lists and when it is they go to places like richer sounds, etc.

They’re pretty much the last specialist chain left. There’s not much choice anymore.

i understand that but competition within that sector is still there from amazon, john lewis, BK. it's why they have done so well being what they are. but it doesn't guarantee in the future they will also do well.

i bought my last AVR from amazon (third party fulfilled). it's only a matter of time before they also feel the pinch on them. they have done so well as of late due to technology moving fast. people upgrading to 4K and then need new AVR's, etc. also newer tv's needing soundbars, etc. i don't plan on upgrading my AVR until it dies or 8k is released. that will stall especially when prices go up post brexit.
