Superman: Legacy

They really should have kept Cavill and made MoS 2
I've said it before and I'll say it again. If Gunn wanted to sunset the old DCEU, they should have done it gracefully after the previous management told Cavill to announce their return, as there are many who do not have a problem with Cavill, only their version of Superman - that let's face it, was not theirs to control - they're just the actor. And whilst it may not have been Gunn who was in charge at the time that told Cavill to go announce their return, Gunn could have given the DCEU one decent swan song out gracefully (MOS2 or equivalent). Allowing Cavill to step down gracefully out of the Superman role that's been recast for the new DCU and get DCEU fans to follow on to the new DCU.

Instead, they chose the current set of events that lead to now. And hence the schism of the Superman fandom when it really should have been a real "Vocal Minority" that doesn't like the change, we now have large groups at odds with how things are instead of most of them satisfied Gunn has allowed their previous Superman to have their goodbye and get ready for the new one.

I thought it looked decent. Liked the modernisation of the original theme.

Krypto - Still on the fence about, it's a somewhat 'silly' concept but is thoroughly cannon and I do believe Gunn has the talent for animal type characters. But still cautious.

I particularly like the fact that there seems to be a good amount of effort put in to Clark looking quite a bit different that Superman - the big obvious gaping whole in the history of the character in movie form.

Bit concerned about the amount of heroes/villains but Gunn has previously done a decent job of balancing multiple characters so will give him the benefit of the doubt on that.

It has been said the movie is thoroughly about 'Hope' and I think the bright colours trend that line. It has also been said there is less humour than the GOTG films so although treading a fine line I do believe James Gunn has enough experience to do it.

Whilst I like parts of Snyders universe and do think Cavill was a good pick Snyder has never done anything great to fantastic without direct source material to work from (300, Watchmen are his best for me but all laid out).

Another fine example of Walter Hamada screwing the pooch. He knew that Zaslav would like fire the entire production team.

Another reboot/remake/rehashing?

A friend of mine into superheroes/comics tells me this is good/authentic. So... Ok!

It looks fine, I thought it was a series not a film. It gives me that vibe.
I think we are way past peak superhero movie time, I know he's the classic original but meh whatever I'll probably be watching it, who am I kidding.

James Gunn.... Ah ok so it's gonna be weird humour. Guardians of the galaxy treatment to superman. Ok sure .

Reboot definitely. remake and rehash? I don't get that impression. Sure we have lex in there, but we also have a giant eyeball in the sky and a godzilla type thing.

Yamcha pose on a trailer not a great start.
Is the Lex actor the actor from the X-Men reboot? Doesn't look menacing and my end up pathetic as the BvS Lex.
Dunno about papa Kent, thought he'd be in a bit more shape as a farmer.
Trailer was pretty bad, only good bit was saving that little girl.

No weird humour

I've heard it won't go down that route. I also wouldn't call it a rehash or remake at all. Think this story will be something we've not seen before along with character we've not seen onscreen together before. Not to mention a massive kaiju creature.

Not sure I'm going to like this as much as Man of Steel.

Man of Steel didn't seem to be universally liked but I thought it was great.

Also, whilst the John Williams theme for the original is amazing and one my favourite themes of his....they've absolutely butchered the **** out of it on this trailer. Ridiculously over hyped wall of sound. Horrid.

I personally love what they've done with the theme in the trailer.

Trailer does nothing for me, feels like they are trying to fit in as much 'old skool' comic book vibes as possible - new guy doesn't look right - also they are leaning to much into the 'look our guy is nothing like MoS superman, here he is saving some randoms' *yawn*.

The coolest part is Guy Gardner, but I want a proper GL movie now - Shame they've gone for the comic book accurate look for him to with the bowl haircut tho

I personally love what they've done with the theme in the trailer.

But they've taken pretty much everything that made the original music wonderful out and just replaced it with big orchestra "braaahms" playing the basic chords/tune.

They've just lazily hans zimmerised/trailerised the original tune, and it has made it boring.

I know it is a trailer, but i don't see why all trailer music has to sound the same and so generic.

I fear that tonally, this is going to be a mess.

It looks like it's going to be one those films that looks silly and has a lot of silly things going on, but also wants to be serious, which is very difficult to pull off successfully.

I just hope that it doesn't have too much Guardians of the Galaxy seeping into it, but the big spacey/glowing blue font used for the writing on the trailer doesn't fill me with confidence....
