Supra or a Rex?

Think I will go for the UK supra, they are a really gorgeous car. But I won't be buying for about 2 months, but I am keeing an eye out on autotrader/pistonheads and the supra forum for good deals.

I as going to buy my mates GT4 but he sold it, before I could get money togeteher.

If I have a decent car I won't need to feel embarassed about going to motors meets at the dyno station ;)

BTW I had a 'play' with a Supra on the way to the R/R day on the m/way. I was pulling away from him at pretty silly speeds (ask Eidolon ;) ).

Yes, my car is not exactly standard, but I don't think the Supra was either, I spotted a Greddy E-01 boost controller on his dash, and a pretty meaty 'zorst.

But as standard there isn't a lot in it, 0-60 is around 4.9 on them both, the Supra would probably have the edge at 100+ speeds if that's your thing.

Love the Rex- don't hate the Supra either but the RX7 is rarer and more special in my opinion.

what he said :)

there are lots of Supras around, ive only seen 2 REX's, 1 is my brothers, and i saw one whizz past me on the motorway, no more. they are more "special"
but the supra is a 3L TT and over 200 HP as standard aren't they?

Official figures for the Supra:

Jap spec 280bhp
UK spec 320bhp

In reality they both get 320bhp though.

I am not really looking for a huge top speed, as I would like to keep my license.

Would I be looking at the same price for each?

Also, someone mentioned earlier about engine rebuilds on the rex? Now I am reasonably competant with cars, but that might be a bit ambitious even for me.

What's the driving like on the rex drexel? Is the "cockpit" cramped? as I do some motorway driving and don't want to be cramped. Plus I am 6' 2", would that be a problem in the rex?

Rebuilds have to be done at around 60k, but some go as early as 40k, others as late as 80k. Best bet is to get one with a recent rebuld, but I rebuilt mine myself, and I have never done a rebuild before. I found it dead easy to be honest. There are a hell of a lot less moving parts than a boinger.

As for the way it drives, I pretty much said it all on the first page. I'm 5' 11" and I only just fit with the seat right back, so you probably would find it cramped. The seats go further back on the official UK cars though, and it's dead easy to mod the Jap seat rails so they can go back further.

How much do the RX7 engines weigh?

The S2000 makes up for its lack of torque with a truly fantastic gear box and high revving engine that is an absolute joy to drive.

Speaks the truth, Vtec kicked in y0!

As for the OP, i would be inclined to go for a Rex. Ace handling and sweet rotary engine.

Would rather a car that I could fit in ;) as opposed to one that is really cramped.

Plus, the supra still has a mighty fine arse!

You not seen the Supra rear seats then ?

To be honest a Supra is a lot smaller inside than it appears. Designed for Jap people only I think ;)

The supra does have a nice arse!

I am not bothered by the lack of back seats. I was looking for a 2 seater anyway.

ooh important question, can I get two sets of golf clubs in the back of a supra?
