SWAPPING OS OVER

What do you mean by 'faster' and by swap everything over do you mean transfer win 7 over then you can't but you can do that to the files on it.

If you mean you need some more space you can get a 2 TB for £80 quite happily here

thanks... the way I see it, I can back up the files onto a 3rd drive, install the OS on the new bigger faster drive and import the files from the 3rd drive via backup and restore?.. is this correct?

will it import office and all my email login details etc... thats the painful bit.. :)

You can just use a cloning software like clonzilla to just move it all to the new drive I have done this many times with no issues.

WRONG!

You can use the Windows 7 backup tool to make an image of your disk.

At the end of the process of making the image you then create a Windows 7 Repair Disk.

Boot from the Windows 7 Repair Disk and then you can restore the image to a new hard disk.

And voila! You have everything exactly the same on your new hard disk.

The only caveat is that the new disk must be the same size or larger than the old disk you made the image from.

P.S.

The Samsung F3 1TB is a pretty nippy drive and only £39.98 this week.

Just make sure you get the 7200RPM version:
