Poll: Syrian Chemical Weapon Attack

Would you support a military strike on Syria without a UN Security Council resolution?

I have a national geographic article at work about Syria, but mainly Assad from many years ago. It was chilling reading then, when they were making predictions and him being likely to follow in his fathers footsteps even though he promised radical change.

Also.. for the plane buff's talking about F-15's... F-14 Tomcat's were always the coolest :-P

Interesting to see people having a go at ubersonic, where to me he seems to have his head screwed on. He isn't saying or justifying an attack, but you are treating him that way.

StriderX: It does seem that Russia/China are seeking out new ventures (allies/treaties/agreements etc) in area's normally dominated by the West. It wouldn't surprise me that it's down to money from either side. (A bit cynical , blunt and sweeping in my in my tone I completely admit). I don't like that we stand idly by, but without clear evidence of the actual side guilty, it's hard to say.

I like the way Gaddafi looks embarrassed to be shaking his hand.

BBC are reporting that France wants Assad removed from power by force. Ie, regime change.

Why would they want a radical Islamist Syrian state, tho? I don't understand.

France suffered horribly in WW1 and WW2, they probably remember what atrocities men like Bashar Al-Assad are capable of. The question of what follows on from regime change is always the heart of the matter, but instead of getting carried away with hysterical over-reaction remember that Iraq, Afghanistan, and Libya are not radical Islamist states. Only Egypt elected such a government after the West did nothing at all during their Arab spring.

but syria is different because it's not the FSA in charge of areas that the government no longer control it's the radical muslims taking over the infastructure and kicking out the christians who aren't needed.

look at the syrian dam they took over and what happened to the workers

lol
Aww man, you made me spit my morning coffee all over my desk :)
Wonder if you can remember a place called Iraq?

Yes I remember it, I don't need to be patronised.

My understanding (correct me if I'm wrong) is that there was substantially more evidence of WMDs in Iraq than there is evidence that Assad is behind these attacks at this moment, of which there is none. (ATM).

the only evidence of wmds in iraq was the lieing defector who lied to get rid of saddam?

it's no wonder other middle east countries don't want to get rid of their chemical weapons like iraq did because if saddam still had all his he would likely have never saw usa soldiers on the ground

Yea i thought the same at the time, if iraq had wmds then there probably woudnt have been an invasion.
By letting the weapons inspectors come in and see there isnt any it was like saying 'hey we dont have any weapons so feel free to invade'.
