T - Bone Steak

Baked potato and asparagus

you need nothing more :)
To be honest I think a baked potato is probably the worst thing to have with a steak. Texture-wise, you're eating stodge, with more stodge.

For the potatoes it's either got to be proper frites, or a dauphinoise. For the veg either a little watercress garnish, or sautéed garlic spinach.

I recently went here: http://www.cattlegridrestaurant.com. I had been before and had the sirloin which was stunning. I took the girlfriend, we both tried the rump and it was actually awful. I was really dissapointed. Hers although cooked perfect, was burnt on the outside (no, i dont mean charred.. it tasted of burnt) and mine was a really fatty/chewy cut. However i did try the haggis on mine and have now dcided that that is easily the best topping for a steak. It's lovely and peppery, it goes perfect. Can you buy haggis in a supermarket? :p

Medium rare fillet + cheesy mash + roasted veg (cherry toms, red onion, courgette, peppers and portabello mushies) = AWESOME SAUCE!

Yes you can, better out the butchers though.

Altough supposedly its quite hard to get it in England. Have to bring some down for a mate next time I'm up.

Forget pepper sauce, a decent steak deserves a little Bearnaise.

I had steak tonight with charlotte potatoes fried with onions and pomodorino tomatoes. Simple, tasty side dish.

Chips with steak is rubbish though, proper chips just don't quite cut it, gay chips (french fries) don't and oven chips certainly don't. Just to plain and boring, chips belong with a nice bit of fish, or some sausages or something.
Daupinious is just too rich to go with steak, it's too overpowering and creamy.

A baked potato, properly done, with all the trimmings, bacon bits, bit of soured cream and cheese is perfect, it's not overly rich but it compliments the steak. Slightly creamy, salty and a good texture.
You're eating a steak, you don't want a light side dish else it clashes with the entire idea of steak.

Triple cooked, thick cut chips = ultimate steak companion.

Overall weight was 1.2kg so about 600g each, I was very tempted to ask him to cut them about twice as thick as he had half the cow infront of me.

I couldn't resist the black pudding hence the change to the side :D
