T-mobile Pulse - Android touch phone.

I was thinking of getting this but the battery life didn't sound to good.
Maybe Janesy B can let us know how he finds it.

looking at this for my son, but the lack of bluetooth file transfer is a kick in the teeth. bt file transfer is included in android 2.0 ;-)

not sure if the pulse will ever get 2.0 or even 1.6

My best mate got one of these after playing with my HTC Magic and decided to get me android love in the form of the pulse. Had a play with it myself and its such an impressive phone at the price bracket it occupies. Now that it's dropped even more I'm definately getting my brother one for Christmas!

In regards to the battery life it doesn't seem any worse than other smartphones. I charge my Magic nightly but I use it quite heavily which means my batterly level will be sat around 35% by the time I toto bed.

To be honest the battery on mine won't get much of a hard time. It'll be charging off my laptop all day but I will give it some stick to see how it fairs. I'll probably get a spare battery too, but considering it's *almost* as good as a Hero for less than half the price it's fantastic.

My friend has sent me a generic ROM for it so I'll give that a go this weekend.

The gps is good, using it in combination with google maps it can pinpoint me exactly and the wifi is better than that on my Sony.

Typing on it is good. It will automatically correct errors for you if you manage to fat finger a word.

Don't get me wrong, it has it's drawbacks but it's a nice introduction to the world of Android and a good stop gap until beefier Android phones come along and steal Apple's crown.

I will confirm that the marketplace DOES work, contrary to some reports online and every app I've downloaded so far runs beautifully.

Battery life is acceptable. I left the house with it fully charged, after an hour of web browsing, playing games and checking emails it was down to 90%. If you spend a lot of time away from any source of power, it's advisable to get a second battery.

sorely tempted even if i need to get it unlocked.... umm, is this as good as the tattoo or not as good? anyone know? also how would i go about getting it unlocked here in guernsey?

Keep calling T-Mobile and hassling them, sometimes they say you need to wait 3 months sometimes they'll do it there and then for £15 I believe.

Just ordered one of these but needed it unlocked, spoke to several t-mobile reps and they all said "not a problem, give us a ring when you get it and well unlock it." and I have that in writing (they e-mailed me a transcript of the web conversation I had)

Was going to buy until i noticed it only has a 256mb rom capacity which means it won't receive any OS updates past 1.6 (that's if the pulse even receives donut)

Very good price though if you are content with staying on 1.5/1.6
