Take ONE, Get TWO - new GIGABYTE upgrade programme

On top of this 3 year UPGRADE WARRANTY, the GIGABYTE customers receive an extended manufacturer’s warranty of 60 months, yes 5 years when they register, so if they are happy to keep their motherboard and not upgrade its covered under a 5 year warranty.

Hate to point out something on a rep's behalf, but...on this page the last FAQ states "The 60-month warranty starts with the purchase date of the registered Z97-Black-Edition-mainboard. This warranty is valid for both boards, the originally purchased and the exchanged board and will not be extended due to the SWAP. If the customer e.g. requests the board on the last day of the 3 year period then the customer still has 2 years warranty remaining for the new board."

This implies that you can swap your board out and upgrade and you are covered with the 60 day term as standard. I could be wrong, but to me your post reads as if taking out the free board upgrade nullifies your 60 day term.

Just thought i'd point that out :)

Gigabyte were already the only mobo's I build with.. This is icing on the cake imho :D

same here.

A few years back I had an asus board that was a nightmare, endless problems and they were nowhere to be found.

OCUK must have passed on my experience to the gigabyte rep who arranged for a discontinued g1 killer to be sent to me to get me up and running - didn't even have anything from gigabyte at that point. Anyway since then they have always been my goto company where possible - thankfully never needed the call on the support guys - but fantastic company and this is an excellent deal for customers upgrading.

The way I read it - the BK edition board has 3 years warranty, at any point in that warranty period you are entitled to upgrade to a next/new-gen board which will carry the remainder of the warranty along with 2 years of 'upgrade' warranty (not the 3 year you'd get with a new purchase). If you choose not to 'upgrade', the original BK board will have an extended 2 years warranty (total of 5 from purchase date).

I only buy gigabyte MB's as well, I know what my next purchase will be, its a good way for a skylake upgrade I feel. Buy MB now then processor when they come out.
This is going to get gigabyte a lot of sales I feel and is a great idea.
I take it they will be selling the returned MB's as well?
Say you get a ud3h now and want a ud5h later on, can you pay extra to upgrade?

While this is great news for the consumer isn't this a huge gamble and possibly even financial suicide for Gigabyte? If everyone who buys the black edition boards exchanges them for new models when the next gen is released then surely Gigabyte will have a black hole in their finances due to no income from next gen boards?

Apologies - I meant the 60 month.

Sure thought so just wanted to be clear before I answered

BK edition boards come with a 3 years warranty, if you then register it with GIGABYTE you get it extended to 5 years and an upgrade choice, at any point in the first three years of that warranty period you are entitled to upgrade to a next/new-gen board.
This new upgraded motherboard is then covered under that same warranty as the original board you registered.
So if you upgrade after one year your new upgraded board will be covered under that same warranty for four year or if you wait 3 years until you upgrade your new motherboard will be covered for 2 year.....

If you want to upgrade to a higher end next generation motherboard to the version you originally bought you can pay the extra yes.

How is the upgrade option decided? Another Gigabyte board of the same price paid originally?

So if I bought a Gigabyte GA-Z97X-UD3H-BK, in 2 years I could then swap this for a LGA 1151, Z170/H170 chipset (Skylake) worth the same price as I paid for the Gigabyte GA-Z97X-UD3H-BK?

So you get to exchange it, even if there is nothing wrong with it??

ALSO: Is there plans to get any more boards on here? Really want a red coloured one, but not at £350...!

Awesum :)

I'm already a firmly sealed Gigabyte customer, this offer is icing on an already well sweet and tasty cake :D

Would you know if this is likely to be a time limited offer, or an ongoing promo?
