Takeaway / fast food general discussion

with a pressure cooker you can have a curry from scratch in 20 minutes and its a lot nicer then most takeaway's

Also some people use the Napolina chopped tomatoes in spag bol etc. Why pay a quid for a tin when you can supermarket value for 28p? I bet if I made two spag bol recipes - exactly the same ingredients bar the tomatoes. One will be Napolina and the other supermarket value. I bet you won't be able to tell the difference

I have used an app called Too Good To Go (TGTG) and you can get food in what they call a magic bag from supermarkets, places such as Starbucks etc for a few quid. I wouldn't advise using it if have a household with allergies and fussy eaters as each day, the magic bags are different. I got a magic bag from Morrison Daily and had two 2.5kg bags of potatoes. I live alone and one bag lasts me 2 weeks plus. The following day, gave the 2nd bag to the community fridge https://www.hubbub.org.uk/the-community-fridge near me where the volunteers open the bag and placed into the crate of potatoes they already had. Community fridges, are open for all, unlike food banks. That's why I put down the link.

Thats not always true although I completely get where you are coming from and do the same myself.

The only difference you'll tend to notice (not always) is the cheaper/supermarket brands tend to have more water then the more expensive brands.

So chopped tomatoes for example, you may need to cook it down a little more to reduce the water content over using better branded chop tomatoes.

That being said, I always get the cheap ones as well, and the difference as you say, likely you could never tell.

It's all feels like that, burgers, fries, nuggets, it's all mashed up guff. :)
That’s simply not true. Burgers are made from good quality 100% beef, fries with normal potatoes, nuggets are minced chicken using only breast, rib and tenderloin meat.

There is endless negative propaganda around McD’s and it’s nearly all utter bull

If it really is 'good quality beef' (it isn't) they do a wonderful job of removing any trace of flavour or texture from it.

Don't get me wrong, I like a cheap takeaway every now and then....but don't pretend it's quality food. It's cheap, bland, salty crap that fills a hole.

What’s your reasoning behind the meat being poor quality then?
