Taliban execute Policeman

'We' were no better during the crusades. I would wage that Christianity were responsible (or those that followed that religeon) for far worse atrocities. It's just there wasn't the media to expose it.

you do know arabs invaded spain and southern france long before the crusades and after the crusades the turks invaded eastern europe so i hate hearing the arabs crying about the crusades they did the same thing to us.

I'm on a crusade against ineptly written sentences.

You better run, boy.

I watched the uncensored video a few days ago, very sad indeed. Has nobody mentioned this was apparently a retaliation for the police allegedly executing several young men on another video?

*** it we used to have slaves that's all the justification we need to start rounding the darkies up into camps eh?

Why would we do that twice? You lost me there m8. I think once was quite enough! Taking your anecdote as an example, it is easy to understand why 'darkies' (as you affectionately refer to black people!) still hold a grudge, especially in some southern US states. History is not easily forgotton unless you are the one who made the 'mistake', it's all to easy then ;). We are not blameless, far from it and it will take more than 100, no 1000 years before we can even begin to be forgiven for some of our own attrocities.

Two wrongs don't make a right though do they? I'm not for one minute defending this or other terrible acts commited by the Taliban, they are scum of that there is no doubt. We should however look to the things Western countries have done in the past before judging what others are now doing in the present. It makes no difference if it was 100 years in the past or last year. Have we learnt from our 'mistakes' or indeed others in history? I don't believe we have. Take Afghanistan for example, how many times have outsiders tried to put claim to this land and failed? What makes the US and allied foces believe they are any different? Are people really that naive to believe the allied forces themselves don't still commit atrocities? Just because we don't hear about them doesn't mean it doesn't happen. War is war and when two diverse civilisations meet, the area where the line is drawn is grey indeed. What one side would call despicable, the other would claim acceptable. I doubt very much the Taliban have any intention of abiding by the Geneva convention.

Taking the moral high ground is difficult when you consider such things, especially when you consider we actually had a hand in training and supplying weapons to the Taliban in the first place when it suited us! But that was OK because they were on our side right? Yet another regrettable venture in history that has come back to bite us!
