I have been given some very expensive black tea, and wish to enjoy it to fullest.

My understanding is

2-3grammes of loose whole tea leaves per 200 ml of water

heat the pot, brew for 2-3mins,

strain

add milk and sugar to taste.

how does this sound?

Whatever you do just don't use sugar!!!11111one

For your average sized tea pot and with a strong tea like that, 4 teaspoons of leaves into the pot will do the job. When I say average sized tea pot, I'm guessing about 700-800 ml :S

i only ever make 1 cup at a time, so im going with 1 teaspoon, and 250ml water.

As it is a bit special you might want to use filtered water or even bought in still mineral water.

I find darjeeling is a little subtle in flavour and is overpowered by milk.

Try a bit of lemon instead maybe.

After reading this thread I really need a cup of tea or three!

What would be a good tea for someone who likes it strong without milk and sugar?

i take my darjeeling, with a tiny bit of milk, as black as it will go, but still with milk.

but like you i find the flavour too subtle, and prefer a more fuller bodied tea. English breakfast being a personal favourite
